I assume no tickets were sold, nothing scanned, so no audit can be done. Did you have to go thru the turnstile of any type?

Went through the turnstiles so they were counting. Just added a bit of sauce on top

yes its technically a draft but there were exemptions or pre draft or zone type selections for marquee, priority and other sports rookie signings.

Yes, I know. Probably 40% of the crowd are kids under 8 who don't give a shit. Real family day out feel. South Aussies love a free event

The window of her wearing Port colours (again) has probably closed now. Quite a shame. But obviously the genuine gun of AFLW, the kind medals should be named after.

Gotta give it to Fagan for stitching up the NT women's as part of the crows.

In 2016 SA wasn't going to get a team because the talent pool in SA wasn't good enough given SA played in Div 2 and wasn't anything special in there and couldn't push to get in Div 1.

So yes there is a draft but most of the girls came from SA and NT in 2017 and of course Erin was a marquee/international sports pick made a bloody big difference.

That's why I said we go after her as a coach. Choco first year in 2022, trains up 3 or 4 assistants as he said on his 5AA segment last year, and Erin gets year 2.

Yeah a fantastic crowd, and possibly a world record for professional women's sports, but yeah it feels like they'll be unlikely to actually claim that record as there's clearly not 53k there, so the controlling/capturing of crowd numbers was clearly flawed. They mustve been double counting people going in and out of the stadium.

Even if the crowd was correctly recorded though, im still guessing it would've been pushing the record. So its a shame.

Well done to Erin and the Crows though, as much as I hate that club they've lifted women's footy to a new level this year, and as such they deserved the flag.

This seems to indicate the previous record in Australia was 41,000, but was going to be beaten at the opening of the Perth Stadium.

90,185 was the world record, so surprised the SMA didn't just inflate the figure to that lol.

AFL always gonna make it something for a media release and headlines. It's the same as the SANFL grand final level each year no matter what the gf is a fantastic crowd that shows people love and need the SANFL

Bit of a change of subject! We sit in what they call premium terrace on the eastern flank. Talking to the lady next to us who bought two tickets for last night. Cost $210 for sitting in the rain. Would that be correct? If full price was charged today, you might have got 10K if you were lucky!

I think you've hit on it here. We got there at quarter time and there were a heap of people outside- smokers etc. Because it was free there were no need for pass outs and the only way back in was through the turnstiles. All the smokers probably got counted three times

Today you had to go through the turnstiles. They had an attendant at each one used waving a ticket under the reader to get them to turn each time.
At nord they counted manually as you walked in

5,000 smokers go out at half time and most of them go out one another time at either 1/4 or 3/4 time and you get closer to 43-45k which is what it looked like on the TV.
