Time for a Rebel Comp.

Been saying that (only half jokingly) for a few years now. I realise it can't really happen, but the current administration should have been shown the door years ago. They may have turned the AFL into a successful business but so what? The game is very close to losing the last of its credibility and I really wouldn't be surprised to find out that it's even more corrupt than it appears.

Either way, clubs aren't protected as you stated. Just like when Carlton breached their salary cap in the early 2000's which systematically screwed up the next 5 to 6 years before Pratt stepped in. They had no players, they won their first wooden spoon and they had shit **** all to spend in the footy department.
So a monetary fine and stripping of picks does setback a club for a number of years. A long drawn out punishment you may say.

Regarding the peptides - the investigation is still ongoing. We can only wait for the results by ASADA. But I've got to ask what are people hoping for as their punishment - the drastic action of disbandment of the Bombers maybe? Banning players from playing for 2 years and let them field 18 and 19 years old who has never met Steven Danks before? Sacking of the coach and board for allowing this to happen? I mean, what penalties do YOU want to see that will satisfy yourself? Personally, I would like to see the coach forced to resign and players banned for two years (but what are the likelihoods of that?).​

Both forms of cheating that improved on field prospects. One smashed with a penalty that saw on field suffer, the other going through the PR ringer in every effort to support the lack of on field impact of any penalty. Can't you see why people are getting pissed of twith the way the AFL is currently being run. It isn't a necessary evil - it is just evil. Fine, excorcise the evil at the head and be left with a refreshed and pure entity - but this current arrogant, self interested, despicable way of/group running the game has to go or we will lose our game or at the least it will lose us - which will end up the same result.
