MVP AFLCA Coaches Votes - 2025

Is this a guess as i have never seen a breakdown by coaches.
Sometimes the breakdown is reasonably straight forward.
Usually each coach favours one of their own players.
The fact that the votes are spread seems to validate a even team performance.

Guestimate as there are limited ways the vote distribution fits.

5 votes can only go to 2 of Graham, Baker or Hough. 1 has to be Hough as 1 of the 2 votes has to be Higgins or Marshall.

Which means Marshall or Higgins has to be the two 1 votes.

So... Baker/Graham has to be 5& 2 and the other 4 & 3. Which leaves Reid as the other 3.

Baker/Graham and Marshall/Higgins are interchangeable with each other.

Apparently there is 240 ways to come out with outcome...

I’ll bite. More like 100 million possibilities?

2x(46x45x44x43x42)

Amirite? Or … ?

Based on this weeks votes, not voting in general

  • Graham (7): (5,2), (4,3), (3,4), (2,5)

Managed to eek out a couple of votes from last night’s loss to the cats

Coaches couldn’t agree on the order of the best three on ground but hard to argue that Miers, Smith and Holmes weren’t the best on the night

Baker gets a 2 and a 1 whilst one coach gave votes to Cameron and the other to Ginbey. Really surprised Cameron featured in the votes given the game was all but decided by the time he had an impact

Anyway, our leaderboard now looks like this

11 - Graham
10 - Baker
6 - Ryan
5 - Hewett
5 - Hough
3 - Reid
3 - Cripps
1 - Kelly, Waterman, McGovern, Ginbey

I dare say Baker would be leading our B&F at the moment

Cameron getting more votes than Ginbey is mad. Dominated him for 85% of the game.
I’m livid with how it ended up. That second goal got him going and us dying didn’t hell ruben at all. Tbf Jezza did something similar against Port against proven key back. He pilled on 5 of his 7 goals in the last and like 3 of those very late in the piece.

Ruebens game was very complete game. Defended strong, provide a threat rebounding too.

You probably don’t want Ruebs with against the big lads but the mobile type he really looks good against.

Solace is that this is a 20 year old kid vs the best kid forward of his generation (i.e. post Buddy/Kennedy/Hawkins/Riewoldt).
Ginbey is showing an incredible amount as a defender for such a young player.

Cameron kick 5 goals, 4 when the game was there to be won.

I'm sorry, but Geelong won in part due to a massive 15 minute for Jezza. He is getting the votes ahead of Ginbey every day of the week

Cameron didn’t get his 2nd goal until the 18.34 minute mark of the final quarter when Geelong were already leading by 17 points and by and large had taken control of the game

You could argue that goal was the straw that broke the camel’s back because we definitely fell away in the last 10 minutes or so when Cameron kicked 3 junktime goals - courtesy of a drop in pressure up the ground and some poor defensive positioning that allowed Cameron space to lead into

The stats will say he kicked 5 goals but they were in no way significant in terms of Geelong winning the game

Ginbey had his measure for all but the last 15 minutes of the game

And Cameron as much said this in his interview after the game.
Pretty much gave the Chocolates to Ginbey.

Mini needs to be more of a campaigner and give more votes to our players.

Even when they do play well the opposition seems to get more than their fair share
Never convinced of the accuracy of these votes. Coaches can give or not give votes for motivation or punishment. Interesting but not accurate.

5 votes for Harry Edwards, who is now just 54 votes off leading the AFLCA.

13 - Baker
11 - Graham
6 - Ryan
6 - Hewett
5 - Edwards
5 - Hough
3 - Reid
3 - Cripps
1 - Kelly, Waterman, McGovern, Ginbey

So the side that played half a quarter of football gets 21/30 votes

Makes sense
