The highlight is the presentation of the Leigh Matthews Trophy for the Most Valuable Player, as voted by the players.
AFLPA MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARDS NIGHT
The AFL Players' Association is hosting its first stand-alone Most Valuable Player Awards night on Grand Final eve, September 27.
AFL players decide the major awards presented on the night. More than 600 players have cast their votes in the only peer-based AFL award.
Categories include Best Captain, Most Courageous Player, Best First Year Player and the Leigh Matthews Trophy for the Most Valuable Player.
Other awards to be announced on the night include the Education and Training Excellence Award, Marn Grook Award for best emerging Indigenous player, Grant Hattam Award for journalism and Mike Fitzpatrick Scholarships.
The awards night will be held at the Sofitel, Melbourne and will be televised live by Fox Footy Channel at 8.30pm.
