The Mt Gravatt Sporting and Workers Club, who held the licence for AFLQ team Mt Gravatt, and a local Soccer team, went into liquidation a couple of months ago.
Yesterday it was announced that the Brisbane Lions Soccer Club (no tie to the AFL team at all) from the western suburb of Richlands, had taken over operations of the club thru a large cash injection.
In a statement made to the media, they said they planned to keep operating both the AFLQ and soccer clubs from the premises, but would be 'streamlining' some area such as their use of the lights, as they were not proving to be cost efficient and they didn't want the teams to end up in the same boat in another 12months time, where there once again had been a financial loss.
