Toast AFL's Rambos

Kade Simpson and Nathan Jones are #1 and #3 most VFL/AFL losses for single club players*.

Not sure if they specifically spurned trade interest from other clubs, but they were warriors that performed week in, week out.

Never dropped their heads. They played with courage and effort, no matter how bad the team was. In fact, they each played arguably their best footy when their teams were at their worst.

Jones was captain for six years. Simpson was in the leadership group for 12 years. Clearly well-respected players that were the types to go unflinchingly into battle.

Not every player can be a superstar. Not every player can win a premiership. Some don't even win a final. All you can ask for is that players give it their all every time they put on the jumper and never give up. These two were champions under that criteria.

* Kevin Murray is #2 on this list. 9 B&Fs, captain for eight seasons, Brownlow winner, AFL Team of the Century. An actual VFL champion. Not too shabby an effort from a guy that played in trying conditions for so long.
Both from Melbourne and never left.
