For Ipad mini users out there I bought the lightning to vga adaptor and it shows all the afl app except for video.

video streams in all other apps - not happy. Thats why I bought it i doubt the AV adapter works eithr back to the apple tv and fiddling with wifi im afraid

It is available in Australia too. $89 for the year. Big change this year is that it is available on any network. I can tether my iPad to my Telstra iPhone and watch it on the bus to work with no download charges. I am delaying adding sports to Foxtel as as result.
I think I'm going to take the plunge. The Tassie games tend to be on Foxtel, and I like to catch the other games a lot more than I do.

Is the same for the larger iPad users?

Id imagine with a 30 pin youd be ok ie ipad 1 to 3

Note the lightning to 30 pin connector does not support video

I read somewhere you cant show itunes movies lockedto the ipad content via the adaptor either ,apple block it

Im on the $50 subscription which requires you to turn off wifi to start up, you can mess about and get ti going via apple tv but they might even try to block that

My experience and research in plugging iPads into TVs is that the application developer controls whether the app can be mirrored/displayed on the TV. e.g. SBS On Demand, iView will work, Foxtel Go won't work. Haven't tried the AFL app into a TV but I doubt it would work and even if it did I doubt it would look that great on a big screen. I am surviving with using the iPad to watch non Channel 7 games this year so far. I am loving catching up on games on the bus on the way to/from work (with Telstra so no download cost).

I haven't tried AFL tv yet, but surely if you have it on your iPad then it would work with Apple TV? It's another $100+ bucks, but can be handy for a whole bunch of things.

It did work using screen mirroring. It no longer works after a couple of updates

Yeah ditto above. Before the last couple of updates it worked through my tv. Now it's only through my iPad. Still a great service and def value for money.

If your app is still working through your tv than my advice is DON'T update your app.

My experience is that on iPads/iPhones the AFL app unfortunately forces you to update before it lets you use it when there is an update available.

I went to the box hill hawks game on sunday, it was a pretty good standard but i also took my ipad mini and watched the -afl games from time to time, very enjoyable.

Sometimes with kids stuff happening im a bit late for games, you can keep track of the game you miss while on the train

Its worth every cent, you just have to be philosophical when it drops out or re buffers quite often

For those iPadians, there's a Cydia app called UnrestrictPremium which allows you to watch blocked video on your big screen - I'm using it for Foxtel Go. Not sure how it would go with other blocked video. You'll need to JailBreak your iPad to have it work. I use a HDMI adapter from iPad to TV. Works fine although not full screen - however zooming might fill the screen

Im still not sure if that is intentional as the sound still goes to the larger screen. Maybe wait for the next update. The same happens for replays which youd imagine are not subject to any contractual limitations

Does anyone know when game replays are supposed to be uploaded. I missed the game on Sunday and wanted to watch it a couple of hours after it finished. I was surprised to find that it wasn't uploaded at all on Sunday night.

All I can say is 'it varies', but usually within a couple of hours it is up. Our last game was available on replay when i rewatcehd it at around 22:00 my time on sunday night (I'm probably a couple of hours behind you guys in time zone).

Definitely not worse than the previous service

It couldn't have been too far off. I watched it when I woke up (about 1 - 2pm) which would only be a couple of hours after the game finished. Wasn't it a late start? ie. 7.00pm?

Usually by the next day. Occasionally later.

Hi

I've set up the VPN with unblock-us.com and it works fine when using BBC or US websites but the AFL site keep saying "this content is not available in your location". Is there any trick to using this service? Any simple step I'm missing?

BrownDuffleCoat - i'm having the same problem. Did you find a workaround?
