Next week probably presents us with our best chance of a win. Although we are playing Gold Coast away, they are currently last in the ladder with a 32.9% after conceding a record 108 points to Port in their 68 point loss tonight. We are currently 2nd last with a 44.2%.

Geez, more bad news. Not as bad as the previous two, but still, 3 games and 3 significant losses of personnel.

GIANTS veteran Alicia Eva has been ruled out for at least a month after straining her hamstring while lunging for a tackle, in the first quarter of the round three loss to the Crows.

Eva, in her tenth AFLW season, was sent for scans on Sunday which confirmed a low-grade strain to her right hamstring.
The small forward was the only injury out of the match, with the GIANTS hoping to regain some of its midfield talent for round four.

Irish recruit Grace Kos is a test to play this week after a minor MCL injury interrupted her training and made her unavailable to take on the Crows. She will return to full training through the week and will be available for selection should she complete requirements.

Aliesha Newman will also be a test to play after a minor hamstring injury kept her from selection in round three.

Meanwhile, Viv Saad made a successful return to football through AFLW scrimmage last week in her first game of football in almost a year.

The GIANTS travel to the Gold Coast to take on the Suns on Saturday at 1:05pm in round four, the final week of Indigenous Round.

Round 4 AFLW 2025 - 6 September New

The GIANTS will regain Irish ruck Grace Kos to face the Gold Coast after a week out following a minor knee complaint sustained against Collingwood.

The agile tall is an important inclusion to take on the Suns, given their significant height across the park.

She returns to the squad with Alicia Eva unavailable, ruled out for the next 4-6 weeks with a low-grade strain to her right hamstring.

The GIANTS will face the Suns on Saturday at 1:05pm at People First Stadium, Gold Coast.

probably the best chance to get a win this year. We will be going in as clear favourites against this last placed Gold Coast side.

Half time but still with a chance to get our first win, although goal kicking has been generally poor. We are currently trailing 12 (1.6) to the last placed Gold Coast 24 (3.6)

Lock and load that wooden spoon and hopefully the club cares enough about our AFLW team to finally get rid of the worst coach in the league. If the club isn't prepared to do that then every player should look to leave as they are wasting their talent playing under Bernasconi.
I got blocked for saying that it's been a horror start to the season.

I'm a W member and turn up time and time again. I don't get why my comment would've hit such a sore spot. It's not the ladies, it's the game style that doesn't play to our strengths.

Perhaps I could've said it differently but I'm the last person not to rally against our squad and support them.

A (possible) reason for the contrasting fortunes of the Sydney Swans and our AFLW teams.

“Doesn’t sit super well with me, though, that a club that came in to the competition from day one, wanted to be a part of the AFLW, has been basically (had) a lot of their talent taken away from them, from a team that has come in in the last expansion but didn’t see the future of AFLW,” McCarthy said.

Amazing score at quarter time at Manuka! Bulldogs 1 - Giants 0. Hopefully there will be far more goals for the rest of the game

Round 5 AFLW 2025 - 13 September New

The GIANTS hope the lessons learned against the Suns will help to deliver the team’s first win of the season when an unchanged side takes on the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.

Bernasconi has backed his side to perform against the Bulldogs after a disappointing loss to the Suns.

The match celebrates Live and Local Round, putting the spotlight on junior and local athletes and highlighting the pathway that helped GIANTS’ players Emily Pease and Tarni Evans reach AFLW level, as well as thanking ACT fans and members for their support in 2025.

The GIANTS meet the Bulldogs at Corroboree Group Oval, Manuka on Saturday at 4:35pm at in Canberra, Ngunnawal country.

Yay!! Our first win of the season, and indeed our 1st win since August 2024! We beat the inaccurate Bulldogs 50 (8.2) to 29 (3.11) at Manuka, in our final game here this season. Easily our best performance, and hopefully this will continue against Sydney next week. Georgia Garnett scored 3 goals, with Levy (2 goals), O’Dowd, Howley and our captain Beeson also scoring goals. Great win by our AFLW team.

Our women kicked straighter than the opposition for once, and we won today's game.

Well done ladies!

Goals to Georgia Garnett (3), Taylah Levy (2), O'Dowd, Howley, Beeson.

Third quarter was amazing - 6.1 (37) to 3.3 (21), against 2.1 (13) to 0.8. (8) for the remaining 3 quarters. Bizarre.

Congratulations ladies!!

The GIANTS have ended a barren run of more than a year without a win, posting a spirited 21-point victory over the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.

Georgia Garnett starred in the drought-breaking performance, kicking three goals in the GIANTS' 8.2 (50) to 3.11 (29) triumph at Corroboree Group Oval Manuka, Canberra. Cam Bernasconi's side busted the game open after a dour first half, piling on seven goals to three after the main break to run away with the result.

They had gone 378 days without a win, registering 13 losses and a draw in that time.

Emily Pease (29 disposals), Zarlie Goldsworthy (23) and Beeson (21, one goal) were all influential for the GIANTS, while Isabelle Pritchard and Jess Fitzgerald (16 touches each) fought hard for the Bulldogs.

Crowd for the Bulldogs game at Manuka was 2,135. A good crowd especially for a winless last placed team. The crowd was slightly less than the 2,258 we got for the opening round match vs Essendon.

Round 6 AFLW 2025 - 21 September New

Speedster Aliesha Newman, ruck Fleur Davies and midfielder Claire Ransom have been named as part of an extended squad of 24 as the GIANTS prepare for a round six clash with cross-town rivals the Swans.

Davies could make her first appearance of the 2025 NAB AFLW season after consistently strong performances in scrimmage matches.

While Newman and Ransom could both also offer plenty of speed on the ball and inside the arc, should they make the final team.

With no serious injuries sustained in the win over the Bulldogs, the GIANTS have a full host of options for selection.

Head coach Cam Bernasconi will name his team to take on the Swans on Friday at 6:20pm.
