She's one that had a star reputation in a fledgling competition but has been found out as the quality rises incrementally around her. We know this all too well with Vescio going from star to role player at the same time.

DV needs to develop her game so she can influence the game further up the ground. Opposition clubs have pretty much figured her out.

She needs to come out and meet the ball at speed, not double back and hope it gets through. She doesn't have to be the one doing the scoring, she has the ability to gather and distribute to running midfielders.

I wouldn't be opposed to see her trialed at HB. She's so smart with ball in hand that she could be a pretty handy springboard for us back there.

I'm not sure she has the defensive capabilities to play there for a full game.

I don't think we have the right balance back there just yet. One of Wilson or Vernon will need to stand up as our enforcer fullback and both are too nice at this stage. Harrington and Laloifi are more third tall types although we seem to be giving Mua the number one job because we trust her more. We need a genuine pacy small defender to lend a hand back there and not be playing midfielders there for the sake of it. The game is becoming more specialised than that.

As for Tayla Harris, she plays a thankless role. She's our only genuine tall forward and only gets a chop out from Downie when she goes up there. We played Vescio as an undersized key forward and she's not dangerous enough so the opposition go up with Harris every time. Fortunately Stevens is starting to play, at least like a third tall and making the opposition pay attention. That can only be good for Tayla long term.

Three reasons for mine. First, opposition team defences are far better now. Second, she's looking for cheapies. Even when the ball does get through, she's not one touching the ball so she gets swallowed up by quicker defenders. Three, She lacks the tank to give repeat efforts.

This is the biggest issue for me imo.
I feel like she tries to outsmart her opponent too often, rather than just making the footy her focus.
Like getting them under the ball, or trying to turn them around when the ball is on the ground.
She needs to up her intensity and make the ball her main focus.
Even throw her in the midfield to see how she goes. She has to develop her game rather than a mercurial HF.

Keep Freo scoreless in the first quarter and give them their first goal by forgetting which way you are kicking and booting it out of bounds kicking it the wrong way 40 metres. That's embarrassing.

Both multiple goal-kickers and in the bests today. Played like they had something to prove - at least we know they read bigfooty now
