COLLINGWOOD is making an audacious play to land Carlton AFLW captain Bri Davey as it emerged clubs are showing interest in attracting the game’s most high profile player — Adelaide gun Erin Phillips — away from Adelaide.
Phillips, the 2017 AFLW MVP and league best and fairest, has been the Crows’ marquee player for the past two seasons.

WOMEN’S LEAGUE: TRANSGENDER PLAYER TO JOIN VFLW CLUB
Phillips’ father Greg played 84 games for Collingwood across four seasons from 1983 to 1986. It’s understood the Magpies have not spoken to Phillips about a potential move across the border.
Davey, who was a Collingwood supporter growing up, met with the Magpies about the club’s inaugural marquee position but later signed with the Blues.
Her sister Holly’s boyfriend, Brayden Sier, is on Collingwood’s senior AFL list.

Collingwood women’s football boss Matt James would not be drawn on specific players but told the Herald Sun: “Collingwood Football Club is interested in all players that suit our list management strategy”.
Davey tore her ACL in Round 2 of this year’s AFLW season but should be fit for 2019.
North Melbourne has fired the first shot ahead of its entry into the league in 2019 by snaring this season’s AFLW best and fairest Emma Kearney from the Bulldogs.
Kearney’s move has baffled rival clubs as the league has yet to announce the rules on player movement.
Clubs believe they will have to give up as many as four players to the new clubs — North Melbourne and Geelong — but they have no official word.
Could Erin Phillips leave Adelaide?
It’s believed the Kangaroos are also interested in talented Collingwood forward Jasmine Garner.
Players are in limbo with clubs reluctant to delist and unable to re-sign as list rules and salary caps have yet to be defined by the league.
Coaches are also in limbo. Both the Crows and the Magpies are yet to re-sign their current coaches, Bec Goddard and Wayne Seikman.
Bulldogs premiership coach Paul Groves is out of contract at the Whitten Oval and is set to resume his job as a teacher.
Carlton parted ways with its foundation coach Damien Keeping in the week of the AFLW decider.
