Now the game is finished and normal thoughts re/enter my head. We dominated sans one really really sloppy quarter. Aside from mental coaching, to tidy up that lapse, we played a really exciting brand of footy. Hopefully the tall targets transform the men’s team in a similar fashion. What’s astonishing though, is the kick in has totally changed the game. There are going to be some ridiculously high scores this year. It’s foing to yo-yo a lot. I think accuracy is going to become extremely important again. It’ll be near impossible to lock it in.

Just had a quick look at the stats (they were hard to find!). Bowers and Hooker had 12 tackles each! 8 of the top 10 tacklers played for Freo (77 tackles v 45 overall). Thought we should have been rewarded with a few more holding the ball decisions but clearly we applied good pressure regardless (except in the 3rd). We also had 10 tackles inside 50 vs 2 for Melb. Won the marks i50 11 v 7 - what a difference an actual forward line makes! Got smashed in the ruck 45 v 21 hit outs - and also the clearance count but pretty sure that was due to the 3rd qtr only. Lost the disposal count but had more kicks than they did - they seem to over handball at times - did the same last time we played them.

Any chance we can grab a 200cm+ basketballer to ruck?

Totally agree.

I think we went negative in the 3rd quarter due to attempting limit the strong wind.

Not much talk about Duffy. Young and on Debut. Had a cracking couple of qtr and then went quiet. Think she will get better as the season goes on.

I also think our coach speaks really well. Got a bit of a cuddles Connolly vibe to him

Was excellent early. Faded a bit but definitely a livewire presence and good footy IQ by the looks.

Was a very enjoyable game of footy, recorded it so I could watch it after the cricket. Girls were very hard at the ball, a couple had some good ole white line fever and just kept at it until they won the pill, hope our guys learn from this. Bowers and Hookers had magnificent games in a game we’re everyone contributed, keep an eye of Duffy, she looks a keeper.

Really enjoyed the game.
A great comeback in the 1st quarter after 2 quick goals by Melbourne.
It’s a very exciting see saw battle. Happy we came through in the end.
Having forwards that can score does make a difference.
