Small, bitter, fascinatingly unimpressive.

It would have taken some pretty remarkable foresight to predict West Coast would come into this game ahead of the ever-present Adelaide Crows. And yet, here we are.
The final month of the season will decide whether Daisy’s Eagles make their first ever finals campaign, or are left to rue a close loss at the wrong time. Up first, a trip to Adelaide, one of the league’s constant powerhouses who are starting to look a little more mortal than they have for the last 10 years.
Fresh off consecutive weeks setting the club’s record win, the unfamiliar weight of expectation is starting to play a part. A win against Adelaide, and the lid will be truly off. A big loss could be a hammer blow with percentage almost certainly deciding who makes and who misses the top eight. Bring it on.
Oh captain, my captain
50 of the best for Charlie Thomas, becoming the third youngest player in AFLW history to notch the half century (co-captain Bella Lewis one of the only two do reach the milestone at a younger age).
Having never missed a game and playing so much of her young career needing to be in the Eagles best every week, 2025 has been a refreshing change of pace. Always reliable by foot, CT hasn’t needed to manufacture every rebound or foray forward herself, instead being able to let the game come to her, showing off her defensive chops and even sneaking forward for a game sealing goal. A win would be a a more than deserved way to honour her milestone.
Here come the cavalry
The record setting wins were all the more impressive against the backdrop of a squad crippling flu that forced the Eagles down to the top-up list.
So, harsh as it seems after notching your most decisive dub yet, the axe has been swung and four changes have been made.
Roxy Roux will also celebrate her 50th this weekend, with her injury enforced move down back looking like a masterstroke with each passing week. The physicality and raking long kick have shone as a defender, but the task won’t get any easier against the Crows.
Daggers is back, thank the lord. Ali Drennan returns to bolster a midfield she’s previously been a walk up start into, and Sanne Bakker makes her long awaited season debut.
Jess Rentsch gets her own section
The final verdict
This one has been marked down as an automatic loss ever since the AFLW began. But, as we watch the young Eagles turn from surprisingly fun upstarts to professionally drilled finals aspirants, what I wouldn’t give to see them snatch this one.
Keep it close, and let the late game specialists go to work. I’m excited.
