I dont watch much AFLW but golly these umpires are horrid. Surely this isnt the standard of the league

Same boat....don't watch a helluva lot but that's one thing I've noticed as well.....and I've posted before, doesn't matter which game, or which team is playing, the umpiring is not up to par imo.....

Posted this in another thread but it's relevant here too. This is the situation our girls find themselves in for the final fortnight of the season.

7. Kangaroos - 5 wins 168.4%
8. Bulldogs - 5 wins 97.5%
9. Suns 4 wins 80.5%
10. Bombers 3 wins 103.1%
11. Blues 3 wins 77.8%

Round 9
7th Kangaroos v 4th Magpies
8th Bulldogs v 14th Eagles
9th Suns v 11th Blues
10th Bombers v 2nd Demons

Round 10
7th Kangaroos v 6th Tigers
8th Bulldogs v 11th Blues
9th Suns v 15th Giants
10th Bombers v 16th Power

If results fall the way they should according to the ladder, the standings will finish like this:

7. Bulldogs 7 wins
8. Suns 6 wins
9. Kangaroos 5 wins
10. Bombers 4 wins
11. Blues 3 wins

The skills tonight are awful from us. Really need to tidy up. Carlton transitioning too easy.

Low tackle numbers also a concern considering it’s our game style and it’s wet.

Much better from us in the third quarter. It's going to take a big effort from Carlton to snatch it from here.

Yeah, that third quarter was excellent. We’ve carried on so far in the last.

If we can keep it up we might even claw back percentage in our chase for 8th, which would be amazing.

Given ourselves a real chance now. Only 7% difference between us and the 8th placed Dogs and we have GWS next week which has the potential to be another big win for us. The Bulldogs play West Coast in Perth tomorrow and Carlton at Ikon Park next Friday. If the Dogs lose either of those games then we're right there with a genuine chance of jumping into the 8 on the final day of the season. Definitely helps that we have a 9 day break now and the Bulldogs have a 6 day break coming off a game in Perth. North Melbourne present another avenue for us to enter the 8 as well. The Kangaroos would need to lose to Collingwood tomorrow AND Richmond next week (which is possible) but that seems the less likely avenue.

Really hope we make it but if Bulldogs win their final 2 games we won’t. That is a good chance to happen too so we are just hoping for an upset tomorrow or next Friday night!

That bloody Richmond game that we should’ve won! It may come back to bite us!!

Kangas and Doggies are definitely a real chance to drop both games, and Gold Coast Girls should be able to put the Giants away and sure up a spot. Here's hoping anyway!

Given the players the suns lost in the off season, to win 5/9 games so far in a 18 team competition and only 2 games from top, that's a good season. Can still make finals just would need Dogs to drop a game (unlikely this week, but they have carlton next week) and North to lose both

Our girls do have another way of making the finals. We would need the Kangaroos to lose both of their remaining games to fellow top 8 teams Collingwood + Richmond and then we would just need to beat GWS next Sunday to take their spot in the finals.

Both the Bulldogs and Kangaroos play tomorrow so we'll have a much better understanding of our route into the AFLW finals by tomorrow night. I'd say the most likely outcome is both the Dogs and Roos win tomorrow which makes the pathway very clear. We would need Carlton to beat the Bulldogs next Friday night at Ikon Park (hopefully by a lot) and then we need to make up the percentage difference with a win over GWS next Sunday.

I have a feeling we're going to get our shot at revenge in the first round of the finals (should we make it). Richmond should beat GWS on Sunday and that will allow them to jump up to 5th on the ladder and we're obviously eyeing off 8th position for our spot in the finals so it's entirely possible we'll get the Tigers at Punt Rd in round one of this year's AFLW finals series. They may have cheated us a few weeks ago, but we'll be having the last laugh if we knock Richmond out of their first ever AFLW finals series on their home deck.

It's been a great season from our girls. Our best to date in fact, but when you're 7% behind 8th place with one round to go then you really, really want to play finals. Hopefully North lose to Collingwood tomorrow. That keeps two avenues into the finals alive for us going into the final round of the season.

Those first half stats were damning. But Howarth turned the game in the 3rd and the team followed. She needs to stay in that forward line for her flair and mercurial skill.

A lot of girls to like once we gained ascendancy, but D’Arcy and Whitefort are two other mentions for me.

Very poor first half until about 5 minutes left.
From that point we were the better team, which is a good sign. Get under the pump, then work out of it.
Saad been a star all year, and the 4 mids just keep plugging away all night (Chuckles, Drennan, Whitfort and Hampson). Got the power covered, if we can find a speedy and skilful mid then that group will be very strong. The best teams like Melbourne just beat them on the spread and with skill.

PS That Kimber goal a real highlight. Not sure she knows what she is doing but kicking it through the big sticks is a good start.

For regular watchers how has Courtney jones been?
She’s new to the club this year right?

Our top goal scorer.
Got good tackling stats.

Seems like she’s been a great addition.

In an ideal world both North Melbourne and the Bulldogs lose today. That's the best possible outcome for us going into the final round of the season but even if they both win, we'll still be alive going into round 10. Hopefully we get at least one of those results going our way today. Also, shoutout to Lateesha Jeffrey on commentary last night; I thought she spoke very well.

Alana Gee is supposed to be really quick so perhaps she'll be the one that you identified as a missing piece for us. If our girls do make the finals this season then I have a feeling that it's going to be a whole lot easier for us to convince players from down south to join us in the off season.

She's been fantastic. Moved to us from Carlton in the off season so last night was a particularly important game for her for obvious reason. She's provided a genuine small forward option for us that I felt we were lacking in the past. I don't think you can fault her at all this season.

Bulldogs now have a percentage of 109.8 %

Will be tough for us now even if Carlton win next week.
There's also a very small possibility that Richmond could create another avenue into the top 8 for us. The Tigers would need to lose to GWS today and then get smashed by North next week but if those two results play out then there's a small possibility we end up jumping them on percentage.

What we really need is Carlton to belt the Bulldogs on Friday night.
