ASH RIDDELL'S record-equalling 35 disposals has the North Melbourne pocket rocket headlining womens.afl's Team of the Week for round one.

Richmond's dominant win over St Kilda was reflected with four nominations, Collingwood and Melbourne had three apiece, while a debutant also gets the nod.

The team is selected to mirror the All-Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.

Like the All-Australian team, it has players selected in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side set-up often means teams play with varying configurations, making set selections (e.g wings and flanks) difficult.

DEFENDERS
Jordyn Allen (Collingwood), Libby Birch (Melbourne), Jess Duffin (North Melbourne), Nat Grider (Brisbane), Ruby Schleicher (Collingwood),

Duffin (17 disposals, nine intercepts) didn't miss a beat in her first game back from the WBBL, Birch (18 and nine) was a brick wall against the Bulldogs and Schleicher (15 and eight marks) controlled play out of defence.

Grider (16 disposals, eight intercepts) was a shining light in a tough day for the Lions, while Allen (15 disposals at 87 per cent efficiency) was impassable across half-back.

MIDFIELDERS
Breann Moody (Carlton, ruck), Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Monique Conti (Richmond), Jaimee Lambert (Collingwood), Ash Riddell (North Melbourne), Alicia Eva (GWS)

Not only did Moody get her hands on the footy first with 25 hitouts, she backed up around the ground with five marks and four score intercepts.

Riddell (35 disposals, seven clearances) equalled the record for most touches, Conti (29 and nine) was unstoppable against St Kilda while Bowers (24 and seven, 14 tackles) took out yet another Derby medal.

Lambert (22, seven clearances) was the standout mid in a crowded field in her match, and Eva (21 and 11 tackles) got the maximum coaches' votes in Mackay.



FORWARDS
Ebony Antonio (Fremantle), Kate Hore (Melbourne), Cora Staunton (GWS), Courtney Wakefield (Richmond), Ash Woodland (Adelaide)

Antonio (12 disposals, three goals) shared the Derby medal with Bowers, rotating between the wing and the forward line and Woodland (four goals) top-scored across the round.

Wakefield's six marks were a highlight to go with her two goals, Hore (10 disposals at 80 per cent, two goals) was deadly in attack, while Staunton (four marks, two goals) was the difference in attack for GWS.

INTERCHANGE
Katie Brennan (Richmond), Anne Hatchard (Adelaide), Bec Miller (Richmond), Georgie Prespakis (Geelong), Eden Zanker (Melbourne)

Tiger bookends Brennan (12 disposals, two goals) and Miller (12 disposals, nine intercepts) took full advantage of a weakened St Kilda side.

Hatchard (26 disposals, 366m gained) took it right up to the reigning premiers, Zanker (20, 17 contested) didn't take a backwards step against the Dogs while Prespakis (20, seven clearances) had a debut to remember.

AFLW Team of the Week, round two​

DUAL premiership star Anne Hatchard's latest record of 14 marks has locked the Crow into womens.afl's Team of the Week for round two.

Fellow record-setter Kerryn Harrington (23 disposals at 100 per cent efficiency) joins Hatchard, lining up in defence, while Ash Woodland's second four-goal haul made her a certainty for the forward line.

DEFENDERS​

Libby Birch (Melbourne), Lauren Butler (Collingwood), Kerryn Harrington (Carlton), Maddy McMahon (Geelong), Belinda Smith (West Coast)

Harrington broke her own disposal efficiency record, with every single one of her 23 touches hitting the mark. At the other end of the ground, Maddy McMahon (10 intercepts) rediscovered her best form.

The strong form of Birch (14 touches, eight intercepts) continued, Butler (13 and seven) caught the eye of the coaches, while Smith (16 and 12) was a shining light for the Eagles.

MIDFIELDERS​

Breann Moody (Carlton, ruck), Britt Bonnici (Collingwood), Monique Conti (Richmond), Anne Hatchard (Adelaide), Hayley Miller (Fremantle), Charlie Rowbottom (Gold Coast)

Moody (22 hitouts, 12 disposals, 254m gained) took full advantage of an inexperienced Cats ruck division.

Hatchard (29 disposals, 17 contested) set a record for the most marks in a game with 14, Bonnici (26, 10 tackles, six clearances) stood up well in Bri Davey's absence and Miller (19 and seven tackles) got the full 10 votes from the coaches.

The sparkling touch of Conti (25, eight clearances) was once again on show, while Rowbottom (17, 12 tackles, five clearances) demonstrated why she went at No.1 in last year's draft.

FORWARDS​

Tara Bohanna (Gold Coast), Kate Hore (Melbourne), Gemma Houghton (Fremantle), Kate Surman (Gold Coast), Ashleigh Woodland (Adelaide)

Bohanna (three final-quarter goals) was the matchwinner for the Suns, while teammate Surman (two goals) was just as lively in attack.

Woodland's outstanding start to the year continued with another four-goal haul, Hore (14, two goals) continued to stake her claim as the premier small forward of the AFLW, while Houghton (two goals) was a constant threat in attack.

INTERCHANGE​

Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Alicia Eva (GWS), Katie Brennan (Richmond), Maddy Prespakis (Carlton), Sarah Verrier (Fremantle)

In a hotly contested field, the final three midfield positions are taken by Bowers (15 disposals, 12 tackles, nine clearances), Eva (26 disposals, eight clearances) and Prespakis (29 disposals, 373m gained).

Tigers skipper Brennan (nine disposals, two goals) takes the final forward role, while young Docker Verrier's ball-reading skills (seven intercepts and six marks) locks away the last defensive spot.

AFLW Team of the Week, round three​

KIARA Bowers' astonishing all-round performance against Richmond puts her at the front of the pack in womens.afl's Team of the Week for round three.

In shortened quarters compared to the AFL competition, Bowers finished with 28 disposals, 16 tackles, nine clearances, seven inside 50s and 428m gained.

The team is selected to mirror the All-Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.

DEFENDERS​

Bianca Jakobsson (St Kilda), Emma Kearney (North Melbourne), Sarah Lampard (Melbourne), Maddy McMahon (Geelong), Marijana Rajcic (Adelaide)

Kearney (16 disposals, four marks) makes her TOTW defensive debut, having shifted to the half-back line this year, with the hard-working Lampard (17) taking her spot on the other flank.

McMahon (15 disposals, 10 marks) holds her spot for a second week, Rajcic (13, eight intercepts) was a cornerstone of Adelaide's defence, while Jakobsson (17, eight intercepts) had one of her best games for St Kilda.

MIDFIELDERS​

Breann Moody (Carlton, ruck), Emily Bates (Brisbane), Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Jaimee Lambert (Collingwood), Eloise Jones (Adelaide), Ash Riddell (North Melbourne)

The strong start to the season of Moody (14 hitouts, 531m gained) continued against Brisbane.



Bowers (28 disposals, 16 tackles, nine clearances) produced numbers that had to be seen to be believed, Lambert (22, nine tackles, seven clearances) wasn't too far behind, while Riddell (23 and six clearances) led the way at Arden Street.

Winger Eloise Jones (20 disposals, seven intercepts) ran hard both ways, while Bates (23 disposals, seven clearances) showed a week off did her no harm

FORWARDS​

Kara Antonio (Fremantle), Gemma Houghton (Fremantle), Tayla Harris (Melbourne), Chloe Molloy (Collingwood), Erin Phillips (Adelaide)
Harris (three goals) returned to her best against St Kilda, Phillips (18 disposals, eight marks) was tough to beat, while Molloy (two goals) broke through for her first majors of the year.
Antonio and Houghton (two goals apiece) were key architects of Fremantle's record-breaking performance against Richmond.

INTERCHANGE​

Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide), Kerryn Harrington (Carlton), Hayley Miller (Fremantle), Lauren Pearce (Melbourne), Maddy Prespakis (Carlton)

Two All Australians in Marinoff (23 disposals, six tackles) and Prespakis (27 disposals, four clearances) were unsurprisingly some of the best players afield in their matches, while Miller (14, 1.1) just got the nod ahead of Mon Conti in the coaches' votes.

Kerryn Harrington (21 disposals, seven intercepts) saw far more of the footy than she would have liked, while Pearce (20 hitouts, 13 disposals, one goal) was a dominant force against St Kilda in the ruck.

AFLW Team of the Week, round four​

A YOUNG Lion is the one to snatch the ruck position in womens.afl's Team of the Week away from Breann Moody for the first time this year.

Tahlia Hickie (34 hitouts, 12 to advantage, three clearances) tallied the second-highest number of hitouts behind Erin McKinnon and Emma King's shared record of 39 in her match against Geelong.

The team is selected to mirror the All-Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.

Holding down the key defensive posts are the cool and collected Allan (13 disposals, seven intercepts), McMahon (13 disposals, seven intercepts, six marks) and in her first game in the backline, Tighe (12 intercepts, six marks).

Grider (16 disposals, five tackles) dictated play from defence, while two weeks between games didn't faze Brown against the Giants (18 disposals, 10 intercept).

MIDFIELDERS​

Tahlia Hickie (Brisbane, ruck), Emily Bates (Brisbane), Anne Hatchard (Adelaide), Mia King (North Melbourne), Hayley Miller (Fremantle), Ash Riddell (North Melbourne)

Bates (24 disposals, seven clearances) and Miller (19, two goals v Collingwood) backed up last round's strong performances, as did Hatchard (29, nine marks).

North Melbourne teammates Riddell (30 touches, four clearances) and King (25 and four) combined beautifully, the latter taking home the 10 coaches votes in a breakout performance.

FORWARDS​

Nicola Barr (GWS), Tara Bohanna (Gold Coast), Erin Phillips (Adelaide), Chloe Scheer (Geelong), Louise Stephenson (GWS)

Barr wasn't content with kicking her first goal in the AFLW in her sixth season, slotting three for the game, while teammate Stephenson kicked two.

Phillips and Scheer booted three apiece in their matches, while Bohanna's strong AFLW debut season continued with 2.3 against Richmond.

INTERCHANGE​

Katie Brennan (Richmond), Ali Drennan (Gold Coast), Aileen Gilroy (North Melbourne), Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide), Kiara Bowers (Fremantle)

Brennan (11 disposals, two goals) battled admirably in an understrength forward line, while Gilroy's rebound (15 disposals, 13 intercepts) was dynamic to say the least.

In an incredibly tough week for midfielders to win selection, Bowers (26, five clearances v Collingwood), Marinoff (26 and five) and Drennan (27 and nine) take the last three spots on offer.

Tighe's star move to defence continued with 11 intercepts and six marks, while Koenen (13 disposals, eight intercepts) held up well in an understrength Brisbane backline.

Allan (seven disposals, five marks) played a key role in bringing Adelaide back into the game, Jakobsson (19 disposals, six intercepts) was composed in tricky conditions and Goldrick (11 disposals, 10 intercepts) provided strong rebound.

MIDFIELDERS

Moody (30 hitouts, 11 disposals) returned to footy with a bang after a week off due to AFL health and safety protocols.

Blackburn (23 disposals, five clearances, 550m gained) was a key part of the Bulldogs' shock win, Drennan (30, five tackles) led the way for the Suns and Miller (24, eight clearances) recorded an astonishing 622m gained.

Garner (26, seven clearances, one goal) backed up her strong performance last week and Bonnici (27, six clearances) controlled the play in the midfield.

FORWARDS
Tori Groves-Little (Gold Coast), Tayla Harris (Melbourne), Chloe Molloy (Collingwood), Mikayla Morrison (Fremantle), Bonnie Toogood (Western Bulldogs)
It was a breakout game from Groves-Little (2.3), who was a key component in Gold Coast's win, while Morrison (3.1) earned a NAB AFLW Rising Star nod for her performance.
The dominant form of Harris (11 disposals, two goals) continued, Toogood (15 and two) controlled the forward line while Molloy (18 and two) relished the opportunity to play a high forward/midfield role.

INTERCHANGE

Bianca Jakobsson (St Kilda), Emma Kearney (North Melbourne), Mua Laloifi (Carlton), Daisy Pearce (Melbourne), Ruby Schleicher (Collingwood)

Laloifi (14 touches, nine intercepts) was named best afield by the coaches, while Schleicher (20, 10 intercepts) stood up well under enormous pressure.

Kearney (24, 12 intercepts) controlled play off half-back, Pearce's mid-game move to defence (15, 11 intercepts) was a game-changer, and Jakobsson (17, seven intercepts) battled hard in a tough outing for the Saints.

MIDFIELDERS

Lauren Pearce (ruck, Melbourne) Jasmine Garner (North Melbourne), Eloise Jones (Adelaide), Kirsty Lamb (Western Bulldogs), Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide), Ash Riddell (North Melbourne)

A tough decision in the ruck this week, and even though Pearce lost the hitouts, her match-winning, game-high six clearances got her over the line in Melbourne's thriller over Brisbane.

Garner (26 disposals, three goals) was simply superb against former side Collingwood, Jones (20, seven marks) was impassable on the wing while Lamb (26 and seven tackles) dominated against the Cats.

Marinoff (24, 16 tackles) broke the 1000-touch mark while Riddell added 30 and eight clearances to her own – rapidly growing – career tally.

FORWARDS

Courtney Hodder (Brisbane), Georgia Gee (Carlton), Taylor Smith (Brisbane), Tayla Harris (Melbourne), Emma King (North Melbourne)

Hodder (17 disposals, two goals) was named best on ground for her performance in the QClash, while teammate Smith (three goals) also shone.

Harris equalled the record for contested marks in a game (seven), Gee (20 disposals, six marks) was back to her very best, while King had a career-high 20 touches and took five marks.

INTERCHANGE

Emily Bates (Brisbane), Monique Conti (Richmond), Charlie Rowbottom (Gold Coast v Western Bulldogs), Emma Swanson (West Coast), Bonnie Toogood (Western Bulldogs)

Bates (23 disposals, 14 tackles, six clearances) may have counted herself unlucky to miss out on the QClash medal, Conti (24, nine tackles, five clearances) dictated play against West Coast, while opponent Swanson (22, seven tackles, two goals) was outstanding in a losing side.

Toogood (15, seven marks, two goals) takes the final forward spot for her efforts against the Cats, while Rowbottom (25, seven tackles, five clearances) very nearly dragged the Suns over the line in their thrilling draw.

Maddy McMahon (Geelong), Gab Pound (Carlton), Laura Pugh (Fremantle), Vivien Saad (Gold Coast), Ruby Schleicher (Collingwood)

Schleicher (23 disposals, nine intercepts) was back to her very best against the Western Bulldogs, while Pound (21 disposals, nine intercepts) has been in rare touch of late.

Saad (14 disposals, 12 intercepts) kept the Suns in touch while the Saints were in control, Pugh (21 and 13) held up well under a weight of Adelaide numbers and McMahon (15, six marks) controlled play for the Cats.

MIDFIELDERS

Tahlia Hickie (Brisbane, ruck), Emily Bates (Brisbane), Anne Hatchard (Adelaide), Jaimee Lambert (Collingwood), Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide), Ash Riddell (North Melbourne)

Hickie (30 hitouts, 12 disposals) was setting the ball on a silver platter to teammates against West Coast.

Bates (31, seven clearances), Hatchard (31, 403m gained), Marinoff (30, six tackles) and Riddell (30, seven tackles) all cracked the 30 barrier in a stellar round for midfielders.

Lambert (22 disposals) kicked three goals in a match-winning turn, despite playing as a midfielder and losing offsider Brit Bonnici in the first quarter.

FORWARDS

Tara Bohanna (Gold Coast), Sophie Conway (Brisbane), Danielle Ponter (Adelaide), Cora Staunton (GWS v St Kilda), Jesse Wardlaw (Brisbane)

Wardlaw and Conway kicked three apiece in Brisbane's record-breaking win over West Coast, helping the Lions to the highest ever AFLW score in the process.

Staunton (three goals) was instrumental in GWS' win over St Kilda, Bohanna (three goals) very nearly dragged Gold Coast over the line and Ponter (20 disposals, two goals) had career-best numbers against Fremantle.

INTERCHANGE

Nat Grider (Brisbane), Amy McDonald (Geelong), Alyce Parker (GWS v St Kilda), Karen Paxman (Melbourne), Nicola Xenos (St Kilda v GWS)

Parker (21 touches, nine clearances) dominated play against St Kilda, as did McDonald (26 and eight) when playing the Tigers. Paxman (28, 384m gained) controlled the game from the wing.

It was another classy display from Grider (16 disposals, 10 intercepts), while Xenos (two goals) was a livewire in the close loss to GWS.

AFLW Team of the Week, round nine​

DEFENDERS ​

Rebecca Miller (Richmond), Sarah Allan (Adelaide), Katie Lynch (Western Bulldogs), Ruby Schleicher (Collingwood), Vaomua Laloifi (Carlton)

Schleicher continued her impressive form from last week into the Pies’ clash with Adelaide, utilising the attack she can bring and gathering a career-high 31 disposals, while at the other end of the ground Allan (15 disposals, six tackles) set the tone for the Crows early.

Miller’s positioning for the Tigers was outstanding and racked up seven intercepts and seven marks for the game. Lynch had arguably her best game against the Eagles, registering a career best 18 disposals and nine intercepts, and Laloifi’s positioning and attack out of defence made life hard for her Suns opponents.

MIDFIELDERS ​

Lauren Pearce (Melbourne, ruck), Lily Mithen (Melbourne), Kirsty Lamb (Western Bulldogs), Sophie Conway (Brisbane), Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide), Tilly Lucas-Rodd (St Kilda)

Pearce (21 disposals, 18 hitouts, seven score involvements) dominated not only in the air but once the ball hit the deck in Melbourne’s big win over Fremantle, with Mithen (24 disposals, ten score involvements) using her run and carry at ground level to do plenty of damage.

Lamb’s impressive season rolled on, gathering 20 disposals and a game-high eight inside 50s. Ebony Marinoff (24 disposals, seven clearances) starred in the midfield during her 50th game, while Tilly Lucas-Rodd joined Marinoff in the record books with 12 clearances—the second most in competition history.

On the wing Conway tore the Kangaroos apart with her run and intent, kicking two goals from 14 disposals while also registering five intercepts and five inside 50s.

FORWARDS ​

Kate Hore (Melbourne), Brooke Lochland (Western Bulldogs), Bonnie Toogood (Western Bulldogs), Daisy Pearce (Melbourne), Cora Staunton (GWS)

Hore and Pearce combined for eight goals in Melbourne’s record breaking win while also winning 16 and 17 disposals respectively.

In the game immediately following, Lochland and Toogood were a formidable duo, kicking five goals between them and causing havoc for the Eagles defenders assigned to them.

Staunton led the Giants’ comeback on the scoreboard against the Tigers, kicking three goals from eight disposals.

INTERCHANGE ​

Hayley Miller (Fremantle), Sarah Hosking (Richmond), Bianca Jakobsson (St Kilda), Tyla Hanks (Melbourne), Nicola Stevens (Carlton)

Despite the heavy loss, Miller led the Dockers with aplomb, kicking a goal, laying nine tackles and registering 414 metres gained from 22 disposals. Sarah Hosking was strong in the middle, winning a game high eight clearances with a personal best 23 disposals and Hanks’ neat handballs out of the middle were a highlight of Melbourne’s game as she used her 21 disposals at 71.4 per cent efficiency.

Jakobsson’s 17 disposals, six intercepts) ability to read the tempo of a game and steady her side stood out against the Cats, and Stevens (two goals, five tackles) set the tone in attack for Carlton.

26 disposals, 21 of them contested, 6 tackles. Other than Lucas- Rodd with 15 contested no one came close to that.

Shannon Campbell (Brisbane), Emma Kearney (North Melbourne), Ruby Schleicher (Collingwood), Ange Stannett (Fremantle), Sarah Wright (North Melbourne)

Stannett (21 touches, 11 intercepts) was one of Fremantle's very best, Schleicher (25 and five marks) provided plenty of rebound and Campbell (11 and one goal) was typically tenacious.

North Melbourne duo Wright (22 disposals, nine marks) and Kearney (25 and seven) finished with 11 intercepts apiece against West Coast.

MIDFIELDERS​

Erin McKinnon (GWS), Jaimee Lambert (Collingwood), Ash Riddell (North Melbourne), Emily Bates (Brisbane), Kiara Bowers (Fremantle), Ebony Marinoff (Adelaide)

McKinnon set an AFLW record against the Cats, finishing with 47 hitouts and breaking her own record of 39.

She wasn't the only record-breaker, with Riddell racking up an astonishing 42 disposals, while Bowers (18 disposals, 17 tackles) showed no sign of knee issues in limited game-time.

Bates (18, 12 clearances, 11 tackles) had another well-rounded game, Lambert (31, eight tackles) controlled play against the Tigers, as did Marinoff (25 and 12 tackles) playing the Saints.

FORWARDS​

Cora Staunton (GWS), Erin Phillips (Adelaide), Nicola Stevens (Carlton), Greta Bodey (Brisbane), Alyssa Bannan (Melbourne)
"Scora" Staunton booted four to nearly snatch the AFLW leading goalkicker title, Stevens (10 disposals, three goals) finished her season with a bang while Bannan kicked three down the other end of the field.
Bodey (13, two goals) was electric across half-forward and Phillips (19 and one goal) could not be contained.

INTERCHANGE​

Nicola Barr (GWS), Jasmine Garner (North Melbourne), Shelley Heath (Melbourne), Amy McDonald (Geelong), Lily Mithen (Melbourne)

Garner (26, 10 marks and two goals) was at her imperious best, McDonald (25, 12 tackles, nine clearances) capped off her season beautifully, while Barr (23 disposals) had one of her best games for the Giants.

Melbourne pair Mithen (26 and eight tackles) and defender Heath (15, nine intercepts) round out the 21 after strong performances against Carlton.
