Fox Footy prediction for Port in phantom draft
PICK 17: PORT ADELAIDE — SOPHIE EATON
Position: Midfielder
Height: 170cm
Clubs: Central District/Freeling
A slick and polished on-baller with elite ball use, Eaton has attracted an invite to draft night. Her draft year was curtailed by an ankle injury, but she still impressed for both South Australia and the AFL academy, while she averaged 14 disposals from 10 SANFLW games for the Bulldogs. Eaton doesn’t get a stack of the footy, but her excellent efficiency makes her a high-impact player.
In the mix: The Power’s link to SA local Eaton has been strong for the past week and it’d be a major shock if they overlooked her if still on the board. Fellow SA midfielder Imogen Trengove would be hard to overlook if still on the board. If Eaton and Trengove are gone, Evie Cowcher might be too good to let slide any further.

here is the first 10 players selected
Round one

3. Kiera Yerbury - Greater Western Sydney
4. Sunny Lappin - Gold Coast (matching Adelaide's bid)

10. Maggie Johnstone - Essendon

it was 10 when posted ... but your right ...I know you mean 11 but it feels like 101![]()
the big surprise so far is Sydney not matching for Kiera Yerbury who was picked up by Greater Western Sydney (for the 3rd pick)The actual picks (non-bids) seem to be falling as expected.
for our pick
Sophie Eaton - Port Adelaide
this from rookie me central
SNAPSHOT: “A highly-skilled and versatile player who has long been touted as one to watch in this year’s AFLW Draft class.”
Further information
When Eaton is fit and firing, she is one of the first players you want the ball in the hands of going inside 50. Boasting elite skills, great decision making and superb vision, Eaton can spot out a target before most, and execute the tricky pass too. Her ball use is her bread and butter, and teams look to utilise that by making her the facilitator going forward.
Opposition coaches in the SANFLW regularly had plans to quell her influence with Woodville-West Torrens coach Narelle Smith declaring Eaton the one player she would choose if given the ability to pick anyone in the competition to add to her list.
Rookie me central is also getting the draft positions around the markAs called by Fox Footy
The aflw draft went national way too soon for port Adelaide. We were still trying to build our list.
Now what we’ve going to have going forward is Sa’s best players going interstate , and Sa clubs often taking the Sa players left over
Weeks out from the draft it was strongly said port was only looking at Sa players.
Gonna be very hard for port to build a contender like that.
