Our first taste of 'football' since the grandfinal AFL X kicks off this weekend in Sydney as we take on GWS (4:10pm) and Brisbane (5:06pm) win both 'matches' and it's another 'Grand Final' for us (7:03pm)

Who would you like to see make the team and what do we want to see? Just go through the motions and get out injury free or the kids have a genuine crack? Or should we take it super serious like some of the other minnow teams seem to be doing.

WHAT IS AFLX?
AFLX is a new and exciting game created by the AFL to showcase some of the most thrilling elements of Australian Football to attract new fans.

While there are some familiar aspects for fans, this new game will provide a very different experience. AFLX is played on a rectangular field with seven players on the field and three on the bench. AFLX is an express form of the game, with explosive action exhilarating fans of all ages. Get ready for 10-point super goals, last-touch out of bounds and non-stop action on and off the field.

The inaugural 2018 AFLX tournament promises to be a great family experience with something for fans of all ages. AFLX promises to be a different experience, with game-day featuring fireworks, music DJs, in-game commentary, roving performers, kids and family zones and giveaways.

The AFL wants fans to have the opportunity to help shape this new form of the game and influence what it looks like in the future.

The 2018 AFLX tournament will see games played across three days, with the first at Hindmarsh Stadium on Thursday, February 15, followed by matches at Etihad Stadium on Friday, February 16 and Allianz Stadium on Saturday, February 17. Each event day will feature six teams at with two pools of three teams playing in a round-robin format. A Grand Final will be played at each event.

Team:
RICH-2.jpg

Callum Moore: The athletic forward has the mix of speed and aerial ability to make his mark on AFLX. With two games to his name, the 21-year-old has been developing quietly in the VFL in his first two seasons, but he is making a case this pre-season to step up in 2018 as a second tall forward. In a format that will reward quick players who can also compete in the air, the Tigers believe Moore will be their secret weapon in an under-23 line-up.

Squad: Dan Butler, Jason Castagna, Jayden Short, Sam Lloyd, Jack Higgins, Reece Conca, Corey Ellis, Nathan Broad, Callum Moore, Noah Balta, Mabior Chol, Derek Eggmolesse-Smith, Tyson Stengle, Ben Miller, Liam Baker

Given what team we are likely to field, won't be surprised if we lose both games. I think Brisbane will make the "Grand Final" from our conference.

Anyway, losing wouldn't really matter all that much given that this is not even the same format as the regular season. Would be interesting to watch though.

My thought is that as long as the kids have a good run around no harm done, a third game is just another chance to get injured for no real benefit

This would be the perfect comp for a development league. Show case players that otherwise wouldn’t be playing senior footy and give them a platform to show what they can do. A mid season draft/trade period to pick anyone up that shows some promise.

2nd, 3rd, 4th tier players should have a real good crack at this.
Doesn't matter if it is a joke of a comp, players need to impress.

GWS

Tom Scully: The competition’s best two-way runner will relish the hectic pace of AFLX, and his ability to carry the ball from a quick kick out at speed will be a massive weapon for GWS. Scully is also a fantastic finisher in front of goal.

Definite starters: Isaac Cumming, Matt de Boer, Sam Reid, Tom Scully, Lachie Whitfield

Definite outs: Matt Buntine, Brent Daniels, Brett Deledio, Toby Greene, Rory Lobb, Adam Kennedy

Two number one picks in the GWS side lol

Why so serious GWS?

Zac Bailey: The No.15 pick from last year's draft looks perfect for the shorter version of the game. Bailey is blessed with blistering pace, loves to take the game on and has an excellent sidestep and agility at top speed. Watch for him to take a bounce and kick long goals.

Definite starters: Tom Bell, Zac Bailey, Allen Christensen

Definite outs: Dayne Beams, Luke Hodge, Dayne Zorko

good stuff Toadvine stolen for the OP :p

so with 5 definite starters in Bolton, Broad, Castagna, Butler & Moore who would we like to see as the other 5 in the squad

also interesting that Broad is allowed to play given his suspension, wait until the SJW's get wind of this

Broad will also be allowed to play JLT and front up in VFL praccy matches, ie: at Punt Road a few hours before we smash carltoon.

Edit: and against Box Hill on march 30 which is also a vfl praccy match.
