Game Day AFLX Draft

This entire tournament is a joke. Besides the indigenous team, no team has any identity /representation. Seems like nothing except a commercial cash cow attempt to get footy onto Asian tv and sign sponsees.

It’s ironic because players have been calling for state of origin for years, and the AFL does nothing about it. But some gimmick micky mouse event with no real sense of identity is given to us.

Why do we need an AFL version of the big bash, when footy itself is fast and free flowing, unlike test cricket.

Yeah nah. Can’t even remember who’s on whose team . AFL really blew its chance by not experimenting this tournament with state of origin. Honestly just feels like one of those games you’d make up at primary school during recess.

Plenty said this about the AFLX last year too.

I think the players enjoy it, and once the formula and teams become more refined it’ll be far more enjoyable to watch.

The newly created teams are much better than watching a stack of fringe players for one.

Surely the timing of the event was of no surprise to the players. Even if they weren't given an exact date (and I expect they were), it would have been pretty obvious that it was going to be held this weekend sometime. Last weekend was the BBL finals and next week the JLT games start.
