I have a feeling it was all a big set up. It’s very contrived who was getting selected. How do you choose Stephenson but not Treloar? It all seems contrived. Dangerfield couldn’t even say his name properly. Very contrived.

Presumably the captains are getting $20K as it includes all the PR work around it too

The AFL have done very well to get the quality of players involved with a relatively pretty modest outlay (~$300K)

Well they aren’t working for peanuts like most of us probably are on here. Not sure if you have a job or not but it might take you 80 hours of work to make $2000. They get it in 2 hours.

Going by his interview, he wanted to play. He likes these opportunities to play and get to know players from the opposition, because you may never get a chance once your career in footy is finished. He seems to like this sort of thing. Like he was involved in the international rules comp, I think?

I totally understand that. I work in hospitality, so I totally get that what we get is zinch compared to what they get. Life of a footballer, I suppose.

It's probably going to be lots of fun for the players to mess around and they get paid... The preseason is a long hard slog, good way to change things up too.
