There was some interesting discussion and strong disagreement elsewhere on bigfooty about age of consent and whether it's morally wrong for a legal age person under 18 to have an intimate relationship with an adult.
I personally think 16 year olds are sufficiently mature both emotionally and intellectually to make that decision for themselves and have full autonomy over their bodies and sexual choices.
It's often sexism behind the desire to raise age of consent laws or oppose legally acceptable relationships with age gaps. Typically arguments center around the need to protect girls from predatory men with very little comment about protecting boys.
I'll also preempt the primary argument from opponents by claiming that I have no interest in any form of intimate relationship with underage girls.
What do the denizens of the SRP think?
