Wait that quote was a response to my post did I make the "should of" error?
No you didn't use "(have/could/would/should) of." I did, independently, satirically.

Ironically, however, you did use "myriad of", which I mirrored. You have hereby been reported to my boss, Captain RobZombie of the NM Precinct of the Grammar Police.

Edit: I tender my resignation, reflecting my mood.

I hope my reprimand is appropriate

I'm officially lost. Who's reprimanding who?!

Initially I was taking exception to your implication that Brad should have been held commensurately more responsible for the myriad (of) reasons for the past 12 months performance.

Anyway... back to the aggressive grammar reset.

In the aftermath of missing out on Martin and the more or less confirmed re-signing of Kelly at the GWS, I'm not too worried whether we call it an aggressive/passive reset/rebuild.

My view is that we should be looking to make very minimal changes to the list, go to this draft with Picks 4 and 21, retain our remaining senior players for another year to help guide our now substantially less experienced list. Much and all as I hate the thought of it, I think we will be best served by another bottom 4 finish next year (did I really write that? Oh dear) and then go to an allegedly very good draft armed with some good picks. If there is a decent free agent available at our pick then take him also in the Pre-season Draft or whatever it is called.

Two consecutive years of good picks, another year under the belts of all the kids we blooded this year, might mean we are in better shape to move back into finals contention in 2019.

As an aside. Once Kelly re-signs with the GWS, we should forget thinking he will come to us in a few years time in his prime. It is now or never and my take is that it will be never. Hence we need to build our own list from the work already done, building on it with consecutive years of good picks. Just my opinion.

How about rather then targeting blokes that are types of players we do not need (inside mids Rockliff, miles) we instead target types we do need (speed, skill, polish)...

I am targeting blokes we need. Good footballers.

You get good footballers then you design a game plan to win premierships with them.

I understood your exception, however the implication you referenced was more accurately the mitigating factors that I referenced are the reason why I have not called for the termination of his contract effective immediately.

Absolutely no idea what you are talking about. But please, play on.

What's the basis for this?

No one keen on Petracca ?? he has his contract up for renewal next season......he could be, if not better than Dusty.
Melbourne are plotting their targets for this season ( J Lever )......thinking they still have time to sought Petracca's contract out. If there is a plan B or C , then I'd be making a super serious play for him.
A real dinkum one 5 years @ $ 6M and while we're at it get his mate Hunt as well.
Strike while they're gutted missing out on the finals.
Of course we would be keen but how do we intend trading for him?

1. The club has a stated policy that we would rather burn in hell than finish last so we wont have the draft currency and will never be able to use the PSD.

2. No one places any value on our mid tier players so other than trading one of our top 4 we cannot trade for such players.

3. We need to keep next years high end picks for f/s points.

And given where Melbourne are relative to us in the cycle we would need to offer him double and then sum compared to what he gets offered there.

We need to stick to FA's given our overall strategy - Kelly could be the exception given his family association but even that still needs to play out.

Ben McKay is homesick and wants to play with his brother

What's the basis for this?

Well apparently Pickering has called it that way as about to happen, but more importantly, I'm taking the extremely pessimistic approach that the "glass is actually broken" as opposed to the mildly negative "glass half empty" approach.

Fair enough.

I heard that but why would he have any cred?

I spose what I mean is ... the only way he can know is if someone told him or he's worked it out from his other management jobs. I can't see the first being true so how would the second work?

What, so spend 1.5 million on 3 average free agents for three years, filling up our list. Who would we remove for them. That doesnt make sense.

Why not spend ~ 1.2 on gary for 1 year. Get a great player, no strings attached, back looking for that long term star next year.
I'd much rather spend that money on a 5 year $4M contract for Brown; front ended to the max of course.
