Completely disagree, you'd be paying for past glories, I would assume you'd think he is some sort of a leader.

He is cooked,
He is picking the games he wants to play.
Sulks if he is not on the ball.
We would have to trade to get him.
If Rockliff is toxic this joker is full on radiation

So you want Higgo gone? We need to keep some talent.
If the offer comes and we receive a good pick for it then I would take it.
Otherwise as Higgo is contracted of course I would keep him.

I'm not suggesting we tear the list up. All I'm saying if someone is willing to depart with value picks to get some of our senior talent then I would take these picks and look to trade up in this years or next years draft.
Only trade for fair value. Not desperate take anything value.

Pretty much everything you just said is wrong.

No trade (just contract payout), would in no way be toxic, he would be thrilled to be able to be out of the GC and spend a year playing footy before he got back to the cats.

Why would you think I thought he was a leader. Lol. I want him for one year to pay the cap space up. That's all.

If we want to pay someone half a million to be injured half the year, id rather recontract Loogie and put the mowing of Arden St oval in his contract...

Well he is contracted so gc will want something (and rightly so) he has picked and chosen when he plays, has taken the big bucks and now the front loading has finished, he had cracked the shits. I'd rather give the game time to a draftee.

Not if we pay out is contract (700k).

As for giving the game time to a draftee - Sure, a long rebuild is clearly what a lot of people want. I don't, with free agency and steady young player development we should just go again. Prior to this year we had done a lot of good things drafting, but had not played enough youth by a mile. The error here I would say is to over compensate and play them too much that we leave behind the idea of sustained success.

Rockliff is a good footballer and someone like Miles is a very good center square player that allows us to release JZ.

We are stronger with these two blokes in our side. No doubt about it. What's more, they wouldn't cost picks. Something for today & something for tomorrow. Get our best 22 on the park with these two & a better draw and we are definitely back in finals contention.

They might get us up to 7th or 8th, but that approach isn't going to win us a flag.

I would happily sit through a couple years in the bottom four, if it means that we become a genuine contender by the end.

Please no short cutting - FYI Rockliff and miles are both short cuts which gives us a limited ceiling.

Certainly would not be paying $700k I'd sooner pay that money to a FA with a longer shelf life

Why can't we have both?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why not pick up some solid depth AND go to the draft?!!!!!!!!!!!

We have money that we have to spend!

I can never wrap my head around this type of mentality. It's as if some people think we can't improve unless we suffer greatly. That, my friend, is a complete load of bollocks.

What, so spend 1.5 million on 3 average free agents for three years, filling up our list. Who would we remove for them. That doesnt make sense.

Why not spend ~ 1.2 on gary for 1 year. Get a great player, no strings attached, back looking for that long term star next year.

Mods get off your arses. There are some decent Richmond posters but I'm sick of these fake account trolls.

Sorry mate, we all accidentally logged off at the same time. Flawed Genius will be soundly whipped.

1.2 for Gary for 1 yr? Absolutely not!

Sooner use that money to try to lure a contracted player with potential. There is no way we should consider Ablett for $500k let alone. $1.2m.

Time to put on my aggressive reset hat for a moment.

In: Kelly, Hopper, Balic

Kelly, Hopper, Cunnington are our starting mids. Balic starts at half forward.

Move to defense: Wags, Jed. They can work with Marley and our new defensive coach (no, not you green).

Move to midfield: Clarke, Mountford, LMac, Garner (in parts). JMac to wing (infinitely better forward of centre, especially with his kicking for goal outside 50).

Move to forward: Ziebell.

Waite is given another year while Larkey develops. We will need to draft another key forward is McKay moves back permanently. Especially with daw and wood always injured.

Thompson is given another year given EVW and Nielsen have barely stayed fit since they were drafted

Gibson is given the role jared moore had - development coach and VFL captain. Good to have around the club because his work ethic is unmatched. He leads by example with his work rate and it pushed fordham, wagner, hibberd, and wood to work on their endurance more.

Tell Goldstein to snap the **** out of it and get back to his 2015 form or he'll be playing the VFL all year.

Work on getting ahern, jacobs, and wright back and on the field.

2019 premiers.

What is the difference spending 2 years getting the number 4 pic instead of the number 12 pick. No certainty whatsoever.

Best bet is to use draft picks and trade together. Is everyone unhappy with Higgins? With Waite? Injuries aside Waite has been great, as has higgins.

1.2m a yr for Gary, I can't even comprehend

I hate potting fellow NM brethren, including the person you quoted but you are correct Le Grille.

Even if he came on a rookie wage I'd still be thinking NO!

He has proven to be more self centered than a new Kmart store.

Total cost with paying out his contract (700 + 500). He might do a bit lower, like 350 just to get out of GC, but who knows.

I just don think you think about trade opportunity in the same way I do.

Give me your reasons? Why absolutely not have gary spend a layover at north for a year?

I say again.

I don't want Rockliff near North.

Sure he can play, the guy is a ****wit and that's why lost Captaincy.

He's no good, let's please not take the Lions problem.

Will we be in the finals next year? Probably not

We would be giving a spot on the field to a guy over a player that we otherwise could develop

We could throw the money at a trade for someone more fitting to our long term strategy

We could bank unused cap dollars for a future year

He would not be dependable game in game out , hardly someone we need with a developing list

Regardless of cap space we need to still be frugal with dollars

If you think gc would not want some return trade wise you are kidding yourself
