Dunno if anyone else went but anyway just to fill you all in:

* Cooke said we made nearly 2million profit this year
* Expects us to earn 1.2 million next year profit
* Collingwood game at the G earned us 500k
* Said the point cook dev will earn us an extra 400k
* Possibility of there being 90 machines rather then 80 at point cook
* We are paying 100% of the salary cap this year (and last year)
* Spending in the footy department has gone up
* We are turning over around 33 million a year, Power house clubs like coll and WC are doing 60million
* Said the stadium is a problem if we continue to grow
* Development will get us up to 30,000, but not enough
* Tempory stand looks to be going ahead
* All reserved seats are gone for 2008 at skilled
* 20 players are out of contract at the end of the year. They are a little worried about keeping all of them
* Bomber said they aren't thinking about 07 anymore and are focussed entirely on 08
* Said that any player who works hard will always get a second chance. The aim isn't to turn them into AFL footballers its to turn them into the best footballers they can be
* Said he would always choose a footballer over and athlete. Then realised Kangars was an athlete
* Hates Harry Taylors shows haha
* Expects the players to start fit and firing.
* Said that the new structure of the footy dept has made his life a lot easier.
* Said Leigh Tudor is excellent in turning top up players into senior footballers.
* Expressed ALOT of disappointment in not getting Scott Thompson
* Said they took a risk in taking a 27 year old Paul Haynes, But it has paid off.
* Bomber said Sheedy should still be coaching.

Kevin Sheedy also got the RJ Hickey Medal for services to football. Spoke very well. He highlighted just how hard it is to go B2B, but said we can do it.

About it really, any questions please ask.

Thanks for the excellent report rizzo. I thought it was going to be on tonight, not that I would be able to attend anyway.:)

There are some interesting points made there.
- 2007 profit of $2m includes something like $700k from making the grand final I think. I wonder if the forecast $1.2M for next year includes the finals series.
- Did Bomber or Cook say what are the club's expectations of on-field performances? Obviously B2B would be the ultimate aim but what's the minimum to consider the season satisfactory, ie. top 8, top 4, prelim, grand final etc.?
- Any word on Nath?

Said 1.2 million came from finals + collingwood game alone. Hasnt taken that into account, however beleives now that we will fill ss 8/8 times that we can still make it.

Didn't say directly. Said this year will be hard compared to next year. Didn't set a minimum, but going on what Harls said it will be B2B.

No word on Nath, was going to ask. Bit daunting with the whole board looking at you though haha

thinking back i can also add

* We now do our own merchandise, and are making more money from that
* Mentioned that the AFL are good to Geelong most times. Said they aren't affraid to go up there if something they do isn't good enough
* Want to be in the green everyday of operation this year, never been done before in the costa / cook administration
* Sheedy knew when bomber was angry at the start of the year and instantly knew we were going to play well
* The club is foccused on recruiting "good" people. Ones that are good in society
* Harls said the boys are looking fitter already and ready to roar.
* The members also passed the official recognition (of the clubs achievements) from the members be included in the minutes of the AGM.

Didn't know it was on as well. Would have been good if the club advertised it a bit better. Thanks for the report rizzo

You beauty

But i dont see many to be really poachable. It seems as though there's plenty of good camaraderie down there.

Egan or Mackie would be nice.

we should be looking to re-sign alot of thiose 20 players evry early....
I wonder what the club is doing to make sure some players are setup outside of football. Players like Jnr, Bartel, Ling etc could all have large revenue streams outside football. I understand they may not want that, but it is in the clubs interest to ensure that we are looking at these options with the players. Hopefully when it comes to possibly taking a pay cut some players are making enough money outside football to take a larger cut on the club side.

Backloaded contracts, media and endorsement money for our stars, veterans list and voluntary pay cuts may all come into play in the next couple of years.

Hopefully if we do have to lose a good player it can be done on good terms and secure the player financially as well as the club with a good return (i.e. draft picks). Now these players have won a premiership I would hate to see them leave, but, I do understand now that as they get a bit older securing their future for them and their families is important.

Cheers for that report mate. Will be interesting to see if we can match our off-field efforts next year, and in particular we will have to do what we can to resign as many blokes as we can!

For me I think we will lose a midfeilder. We can't afford Ablett, Bartel, Chapman, Ling, Corey, Enright, Selwood, Kelly, Rooke, Wojcinski, Prismall.

First 4 a not going anywhere, I would hate to lose any of the next 4 and the last 3 are probably worth more than another club would offer.

Agree, first 4 are cats for life. I would assume JC is to as he is a life member. Prismall signed for two years last year. I doubt Selwood would be on the move at the end. Cats supporter and seems very loyal. Kelly, Rooke, Woj unsure about, doubt they would leave. However wouldn't lose sleep if Kelly Left. Very replaceable.

He is replaceable, but no more so than Wojcinski and others.

Just wanna be more like you CM :p

Personally i would find Maxy's courage and Wojas Speed harder to replace then Kellys attributes, however i can see where you are coming from.

It scares the crap out of me that over half our list are up for contract renewals at the end of next year when you consider that we squeezed in new player contracts at the end of this year. If we do exceptionally well again next year, the sharks will be circling. We might lose a couple of good players and offload some of the fringe players like Brynes, Tenace and Kelly just to stay under. I do have a soft spot for Kels after watching him have a great 1st year but he's never really come on after breaking his leg :(
