saw trinity game on the weekend great hard fought effort by all the boys especially the young blokes really lifted and good signs best- tinny, spaz, eckersly, chadwick what are people thoughts on the other games???

just a mention well done to the trinity boys on a hard fought win over peninsula not taking anything away but peninsula should be disappointed with their 1st quarter.. 5 goals to zip and then won the next three quarters very unlucky not to win the game.

they should look to improve with alot of youngsters and their best footy is still yet to come i think.

a solid effort from a yr 11 robert clements who was in and under all day and their captain nathan o'neil was also solid.

a game they desperately needed to win turned out to be a tragic ending good luck next week boys.

camberwell arent that great.. there best player and one of the only players to watch is hart.. they also got a small year 10 called sam cust, who i belive played well in the u/16 chargers recently, kicked 4 against peninsula and 2 against ivanhoe, strong mark against taller player so watch out for him

nah i think marcellin are the team to beat.. dunnachie reliable as an ever ready battery down back.. hard to get the pill past him
and whne hes up forward.. oh all sorts of headaches for bakcmen

does anyone rate trinity this year, from what ive heard they are ok
seen a few games and look they are going to go ok this year likely to finish around 4-5 though are looking strong and are very competitive and close knit unit and do play some good footy with a fair few young blokes coming through as well which are good signs for the future

Assumption, to this day has never purchased players. Tomorrow they come up against one school that does, Essendon, and once more will give the a hiding at Kilmore.

how embarrassing for you... some of the bias, naive, un-educated comments ever posted in Big Footy history.

You must fall into one of the following categories:
1. Your just plain stupid.
2. Your new to the school and don't know the Assumption history.
3. You want to shy away from the truth because you refuse to believe that your "beloved" school could stoop so low.
4. All of the above....

I'll hedge my bets on option 4...

My dear muppet... Assumption has brought players for eons! Way back to the inception of Ray Carroll. They have virtually openly admitted to it, and have never officially denied it! Players of the ilk of Shane Crawford and his cousin Ryan Crawford (whom I played against in 2002) are prime examples. Both were from north of the Victorian border and were both educated and resided at the college. Ryan played for the NSW/ACT Rams on his time away from the school. They were both "brought" by the school.

The students that play for Assumption possess no spirit and school pride simply because they were all purchased. This is the reason why they have never successfully been able to field a VAFA side. No body plays for the jumper, they play for the scholarship, laptop and free board that Assumption hand out. Once that disappears at the end of year 12, they disappear to chase further money at the local leagues. Look at all the A and B Grade sides in the VAFA, they are all made of teams that are associated with a private school or university. 98% of those players are playing for the love of the jumper and that is what it is all about!

Note: I say 98% because i honestly believe there are some players that are played in the competition even though it is deemed an Amateur competition.

Ivanhoe imbecile, theAssumption game is built on 115 year of history and tradition. The Crawfords came to ACK off their own bat. Shanes mother worked two jobs to send he and Justin to Kilmore.

Assumption College Kilmore has taken out 75 titles in their long proud history. 145 players have gone onto play VFL/AFL from the Dark and Light Blues. Champions such as Francis Bourke, Crackers Keenan, Kevin Heath, Brendan Edwards, Simon O'Donnell, Billy Brownless, Neale Daniher, Ben Dixon, Shane Crawford, Jason Johnson, Damien Drum and the Serafinis all attended Assumption College and represented the jumper with pride.
Each player named still returns regularly to see their old side in action.

As a matter of fact, about 12 years ago Assumption and Ivanhoe Amateurs combined and field a side in D section of the Ammos

chelsworthgale why dont you listen, assumption college has never bought players and never will. ask any current or any of the past 140+ AFL/VFL players.

And I am sure their "scholarships" eased the burden of two lots private school fees.

Well done on extracting this information from the "Sporting History" section from Assumption website. The fact still remains that Assumption currently and have always purchase marque players. That proves nothing... John Stevens and James Hope were both drafted by AFL clubs and still to this day play for OI (Hope did until the end of the 2006 season until he took up a job offer in Dubai)

which school do you support chelsworthgale? Ivanhoe or PEGS?
and whats the go about that ACK doesnt have team in the VAFA. So what?

I attended Ivanhoe Grammar and play/played for OI, yet to decide on a return considering i had two joints reconstructioned in June and August last year. I have a close association to a couple of PEGS players. I am curious how did you come to those two options?

As for the VAFA association, generally the players that play for these clubs play for the jumper and are heavily sourced from the school/university they are associated with. If you look at the A-Grade and B-Grade teams almost all of them have these types of associations. Even a few of the C-Grade teams have these associations. The idea behind the amateur competition is you play for the club/jumper/school, you pay to play (via subscriptions), you attend club functions to support the club and the clubs generally run on very tight margins. The fact that Assumption don't have a club provides clear cut evidence that the majority of the players that come through their "scholarship for football" program have no love, pride or passion for the school once they move on... they move on to chase dollars at local clubs that throw hundreds, even thousands of dollars a game in front of these players faces.

well done on reading through the VAFA website... Now you need to ask the question... why could Assumption no survive on their own? It cant be due to location... Old Geelong have survived and they have their home ground at Como Park in Metro Melbourne... It is because there was no desire from the players leaving the school to play for the jumper/club/school and for that reason only!

But lets not get too side tracked from the main question here...

Assumption have and will always purchase players in search for silverware. It is general knowledge that is unopposed by the masses. But they are not alone, it is known that at least PEGS and Pennisula are also guilty of this, Marcellin are skeptical but it wouldn't surprise many.

chelsworthgale why dont you listen, assumption college has never bought players and never will. ask any current or any of the past 140+ AFL/VFL players.

why?

Simple, it is something that Assumption has never refuted nor tried to contest. It has and will always be accepted that they offer scholarships in hope to attract potential AFL players...

end of story... get over your tie with the school and open your eyes! Like I said they are not alone nor is it looked down upon... it is simply a fact of life

not taking sides at all but i was just wondering where the nearest vafa club is to the town of kilmore?

how dare you accuse marcellin of buying football players. marcellin has always had such a strong footy team because it is attended by students from a large area from hurstbridge to eltham, warrandyte, into heidelberg, rossana, bulleen, telmplestow, kew and camberwell areas. this is quite a large area and is the main catholic school of that area. marcellin like other private/denominational schools compells its students to participate in the school sports program and this is why they have such a strong program.

so to anyone who is of the belief that marcellin purchase footy players you a catagorically wrong!
