Great performance by the whole team. Johnno back to some of his best, was really hoping he kicked that goal, would have put doubts he had after the Nth game to rest.

Guys I know it really hurts now, but gee am i excited by what the team is capable of. After reading alot of stuff on this board in the last three or so weeks, I was starting to maybe doubt that the guys had it in them, but im well and truley still a believer that a Grand Final and even a Flag is not as far away as we think.

Chin up guys lets take the positives out of this and push on to next week and September!:thumbsu:

Re: Ah F***!

Gee we missed Hargrave. A very important part of our team.

What a great team effort. Some horrible turn overs in amongst some of the best footy we've played in 12 months. Hard at it, gut running.

Ward is a gun.
Callan was very under done.
Harbrow kept trying and while he turned it over, and made some howlers, he'll improve back there. Eade obviously has faith.
Johno turned back the clock.
Aker should play on.
Gia is class.
Higgins is a jet.
Cooney still needs to work harder.
Why can't Griffen kick goals?

...some random musings...

I will be gobsmacked if these two are not still a bit sore, maybe still carrying a niggle or three. Cooney, especially. Neither one is performing anywhere near as well as last year.

Re: Ah F***!

It happens every week, umps hate us !
Come on now, don't be silly.

Absolutely devastated :( I know it was one of our better games and I know it was probably our arrival in season 2009... but that's just not the way my mind is thinking right now...

Yeah it is just my emotions getting the better of me.

But seriously though there has been so many times (this year) where the umps have stuffed us. I know they cant get every decision right, but geeez.

I feel really disappointed (obviously), but to have some confidence restored in the team after a loss is a positive.

What a brilliantly entertaining game of footy. If you haven't renewed your membership this year, what the hell are you waiting for? If you go to a few games and dont have a membership, why the hell not?

I was very impressed with the doggies and felt like we didn't desreve to win. had written you guys off for the season but this game has changed my mine. Akermanis was amazing and Johno took home his customary bag of goals. Does he ever play badlyy against Geelong?

gday

just got home

pretty devastated in a way, but really proud of the boys.:thumbsu:

i know we played crap in patches, but geez we were good tonite when we took the game on head on and ran the lines against the cats:)

i hope the boys do what geelong did a few years ago and draw that line in the sand and say to themselves that if we put our mind to it, we are capable of winning against any team:rolleyes:

i know this will sound like sour grapes, but geez there were some shocking decisions against us tonite...including abblets 50 m penalty for practically nothing and the cross incident where he got polaxed !

also, more sour grapes, but i find it amusing now at how flukey geelong are against us, not only tonite, but over the last 20 years or so - starting with bloody Billy Brainless' goal after the siren in that 1/4 final in the early 90's, and just geelongs run of success in finals against us in the last 5 or so outings.:(

also, steve johnson really pissees me off ! how flukey is he ?
What about that goal that he kicked tonite where morris worked his arse off and lead him to the ball and the bloody ball bounced straight over morris' head and landed in the lap of johnson for the goal ! Just so flukey ! Being in the wrong position at the right time and being rewarded for being lazy and being second to the ball ! U just have to shake your head and laugh sometimes... ! hehe !

anyway, if we play like that tonite , we will give it a real shake in 09....

wian

Devastated, shattered, sad, shocked.

And a whole lot more.

Very proud of them, but more than anything right now, I'm hoping to god we knuckle down and start believing and wanting more than ever.

We ARE good enough.

DAMMIT, it would've been good to return the favour against the cats and kick the winning goal after the siren ala Billy Brownless.

Hopefully payback will be in September this year.

Before tonight I thought that we were just making up the numbers.

After tonight we can match it with the very best, and if things fall our way, to quote Jake Taylor in Major League we can win "the whole ****in' thing".

Re: Ah F***!

I wasnt baggin him, merely pointing out the coincidence of round 9. Chill.

Sorry man... I was a bit emotional at the time haha , normally read your posts with gladness

Absolutely shite turn of events, but based on that operation, the 4 points we lost (deserved) wont turn out to be too much of an issue imo. I think we will clearly win enough games to make top 3, and anything goes from that point. :thumbsu:

Ditto... Come on Dogs chins up and a pretty good next couple of weeks. Lets get 09 rolling!

Devastating to lose that way but at least we showed how good we can be. If we play like that consistently we will definitely be top four, I'd be surprised if we didn't rattle off a few wins on the trot now

Gutted.

We deserved so much more tonight. That lapse early in the 3rd quarter really cost us.

Can't fault the effort of any of them tonight, they played their guts out and were magnificent. Its just a cruel game sometimes.

Hopefully this is a turning point for us and the players are hungrier than ever.

Magnificent effort boys.

You made us proud.

Just want to say how proud I am of the boys and of the posters on this board.

We could have got angry and taken out our frustration on Johnno's miss, the umpires or so many other things, but the responses have been measured and have put things into perspective.

We are good enough to match it with the best, and I also believe this will spur us on to bigger and better things for the rest of the season.

The next four weeks looks promising and the Hawks match will be a cracker, which on tonight's form, we should win.

Ah...the rollercoaster ride of being a Dogs supporter - you gotta love it!

Great Game guys, a pity you didn't make it over the line...

Reminded me a lot of our game in round 6 last year against Geelong with Pav having a great game but missing a shot at the end and hitting the post to go down narrowly. I was a bit surprised Jhono didn't take longer with the kick and then the siren went while he was running in as well... but like Pav I don't think you can pick on one thing when he had such a great game otherwise.

Anyway I know exactly how you feel ATM :(

Absolutely devastated, I was at the game today. Thought it was a bit strange for johnno to continue on even though the siren interrupted his run-up but I guess he knew what he was doing.

Had a cool down and thought about it, it was a shame that we didn't win but the fight and spirit was something that we seemed to have lacked this year. Seeing it today was a real positive, and if we can take thats sort of attitude into the rest of the season, we can go a long way.

Lost the battle, but we'll win the war!
