Player Watch #4: Aidan Corr

Can you imagine being bottom 4 and having two good u22 players (Worpel & Day).

They have made a mess from trading picks.
They have a seriously annoying knack of sorting their s**t in short periods of time and be challenging again.....can’t stand em and that god-awful jumper, but they are easily the best run Vic club in the comp if not the best overall. Always competitive for almost the last 50 years.

$600k in Covid dollars? I bet Cleary was given that number by Hawthorn. It seems like a lot.

Wait until Cornes gets hold of it.

The man is capable of distorting the CPI by his mere presence.

Can agree with some of that LB2S. But now the introduction of GWS & GC. will really hit them.
All those kids they mightta picked 2011 - thru to 15 / 16 and would be hitting their peak aren't there.

Probably a front loaded contract to make up the salary cap space which equates to 600k overall but is really only 400k years 2/3-5

Agree.

And whilst it seems to be a common view, I really disagree with the notion that Hawthorn are some super well run club over the long term that will lead to ongoing success.

The era of zone recruiting saw a handful of clubs dominate the league, with Hawthorn being one of those. Their 91 flag was the tail end of that. So in the last nearly 30 years they've had one successful period. Can't deny how successful that period was, with 4 x flags, but for the remainder of that 30 years they were mostly average or worse.

Their last 5 years seems to show they really believe they are this super successful club that can trade their way to future success. But it isn't going to be that easy, as you point out above, and won't happen IMO, especially since they don't seem to have accepted yet that they need a rebuild. With their poor drafting over the last 5 years, I reckon they are a decade away from being serious challengers again.

Hope you are right.....hawks have never had an extended run of shitness, that I can recall, in my life time. They are due.

AIDAN CORR

The restricted free agent is joining North Melbourne on a long-term contract believed to be more than $600,000 per season. Depending on the length of the deal, it could net Greater Western Sydney an end-of-first-round compensation pick which would be a major bonus.

Well find out when the compo is released on how much of this BS

Lemme guess the opening headline of the tabloid article will start something like this: {a desperate north melbourne has thrown cash at a second rate defender from a club mssing final with a massive 5 year offer at nearly 700k pa}

He will join Giants free agent Aidan Corr as new additions to the Roos' back half.

This is very interesting

Interestingly of the six Giants to so far signal their intent to leave the club in a tumultuous off-season – Jeremy Cameron, Zac Williams, Aidan Corr, Jye Caldwell, Jackson Hately and Zac Langdon – only Corr (ninth) finished in the top 10 of voting for the Giants.

So the doggies are looking to swoop and take corr. Surely he’ll be a north player next year.

From the HS:

North Melbourne’s player exodus won’t deter GWS Giants’ Aidan Corr from joining the club in massive show of faith in the club’s list rebuild.
The Roos have targeted Corr for months to help bolster the club’s key backline but could let go as many as 14 players in an extraordinary move to rejuvenate the list.

Stars Shaun Higgins, Ben Brown and Jared Polec could all be out the door, prompting speculation Corr could get cold feet and consider a move to Hawthorn.

But the Herald Sun has confirmed Corr, 26, won’t do a backflip on his intention to join North Melbourne and will accept a long-term deal to start a new chapter in blue and white.
