Where has his fairweather fanclub gone?

This guy is still playing good footy for Souths...he's had a few fair-to-middling games up forward, and done his job much like last season when down back, and now people are talking about cutting him because he's not taking the headlines anymore?

We don't need him to be a 'star'. Look at Fremantle's backline...Shannon Watt for the Kangaroos...Brian Harris for the Doggies...

They're all 'honest but no stars' and damn, I'd take any of them in a second...

Don't give up on Parker yet...he will be in our backline soon enough...

Parker needs to bulk up more IMO, before he can be granted a nod for a senior game. Other than that, he's been playing and coming along, nicely. :)
Yeah very nicely for you ;)

Yes I tend to agree. Parker still has a young body adn with time in the SANFl he should be able to one day stand up to the likes of Lloyd and Lynch in the AFL. He would get towelled up by them in his current state.

However, I feel he shouldve been promoted if it wasnt for the whole Salary Cap ****. It wouldve boosted his confidence I think.

It's a common problem in our club...we're not bulking up players enough...Christ, Ryan Fitzgerald bulked up more when he LEFT out club, rather than while he was there.

Funny 'cos its true.

Its also sad. IMO its one of the biggest problems we have. McGregor has been in the system for six (?) years and he has little to no muscle - why?

As for Basset, well...

I have followed Parkers progress with south for over a year now and there is not one game i have read or seen that he has played poorly in.Was dissapointed that he was not promoted to the senior list this year.Imo if you had Parker in defence at least you know whoever he is on is not going to have an easy day.

Despite having "little to no muscle" he is still one of the strongset in the club.

I recant. For some reason I felt like being angry at some of our players for not having the physique of Mal Michael.

But what does "strongset" mean Stiffy? ;) :)

OK Stiffy, you've been known to go out on a limb and support players, predicting bright futures, when some still have ?;)

Whats your prediction on Parker, his future with AFC, and if he has one what position?

I watched him a fair bit last year and I thought we had a FB of the future. What impressed me most about Parks is his rapid rate of improvement where he added more rebound to his game. He came over as an old fashined spoiling backman that is happy not to get a kick as long as his opponent doesn't get one either. He eventually moved on to CHB where he provided a lot of rebound and generally got 20 possesions 6 marks games were the norm. Later in the season we he even got 34 possesions twice and was named SANFL player of the week.

This year I haven't seen him play but I would think that playing him as a "bandaid" player is not helping his chances. One week he is at CHF, then he is at CHB and then at FB. He hasn't had as good a year as he did last year but he is a fish out of water at CHF. He will never be a star but he can develop into a very reliable FB/CHB or a 3rd tall that will provide rebound out of defence and give his heart and soul for the jumper. He still has few things to "iron out" such as decision making but I would promote him if it was up to me. He is not a shocker in this area but he can improve in it.

I still think he would make a very good FB. I was p|ssed off last year when he wasn't promoted. Considering that he had a chance to get drafted by 6 or 7 AFL clubs last year, yet turned it down to stay loyal to the club. For that alone I would promote him and lets face it we could do a hell of a lot worse than Parker.

This is a situation where loyalty deserves to be rewarded. He should get promoted. End of story.

There have been mitigating circumstances around his apparent lack of form (at least, when compared to last year's). The way he transformed himself into a quality running CHB from a dour FB last year was remarkable.

Besides, the only way Adelaide can turn the number of players over that they need to this year means that anywhere between 1 and 3 rookies will get promoted.
