is it possible to get cheap last minute airfares?

if so, how?

if not, what is the best and cheapest way to fly to south east asia

thankyou

The Mrs shops around and the last couple of times we've flown Jetstar. 3 years ago she had enough frequent flyer points to upgrade us to star class.:thumbsu:

JetstarTigerAirAsiaVirginBlue(can't post URLs!!)Just search the dates and find the cheapest.Tiger is the cheapest I think but unfortunately they only exit Australia via Perth and go to Singapore. Great if you live in Perth, otherwise you will usually end up with 2 stopovers.Virgin do the south pacific but I have limited SE Asia routes. If you can get to Singapore cheap then you have Tiger and Air Asia to get you anywhere else cheap. Jetstar is probably the best for existing Australia.

You absolutely sure on that? I thought Tiger did Melbourne - Darwin - Singapore? Still would be a nightmare flight.

From Germany? Dunno. AirAsia (budget offshoot of Malaysian Airlines) fly London-Kuala Lumpur, but reportedly really pack the seats in.
A 30 second Google shows Condor apparently do a Frankfurt - Phuket flight from as low as 300 Euro.

JetStar leaving Melbourne nowadays also takes a bounce in Darwin to make it to Vietnam.

As long as there's enough people on the plane when it gets to Darwin. At least 2 flights to Asia-Pacific region on JetStar canned from Darwin.
