I would trade Pick 26 & Pick 28 to GWS for 10. Gets them more acadmey points.

Then put the pressure back onto Brisbane.

I love that idea but not sure us or GWS want to see any more of each other this trade period.

Lions would then have to accept future 2nd and 44. Would be a bold move.

why is Aish worth 2 second rounders in the 20's plus something but Freeman was only just worth a future second rounder???

Freeman hasn't played a game through injury and is therefore a risky pick. Aish didn't have a great 2nd season but injury and probably the fact he was weighing up his future took it's toll a little. He played some amazing games in Year 1 and looked every bit a top 10 pick. I would be more than happy spending two 2nd rounders on him.

32 games in two seasons vs none.
Character vs none.

This deal will get done tomorrow, Brisbane just trying to show they have a place of authority in the AFL system but when the whips are cracking they will buckle as they realize their place in the afl landscape, down the bottom!!

Probably because Aish has actually played a few football games in the last 2 seasons whereas Freeman has spent the same time period inventing new ways to **** up his hamstrings. One has played football while the other has none SFA.

Hine on SEN pretty much said that Pies, Lions and Roos are all working their way through the deal.
Sounded pretty confident of a deal tomorrow.
That's the way I see it. A 3 way deal.

North would have worked out a deal already for Bastinac if they were doing it with Brisbane alone.

Aish was a higher rated junior, went higher in the draft, had a great 1st year, doesn't have SERIOUS injury concerns.

Freeman on the other hand has a destroyed hamstring and has played zero good footy in 2 years.

So with Brisbane and North already seemingly having come to an agreement over Bastinac and an exchange of later picks for Brisbane's 17 in return... how can we work 28 into the deal?

We no longer have our 2 first rounders the next two years. I feel like we'd be better off using the picks to assist areas of need. Aish is not a need, he's a luxury. Midfield in general is not a need right now, unless we can pickup someone with elite speed and footskills. I feel like we are going after the cherry to put on top of the cake rather than looking at sorting the cake out which is far from finished at this point.

We've set ourselves up to do 2x 2nd round picks via the Treloar trade, so hopefully it goes through. Otherwise it would have been better for both GWS and us for pick 7 to remain with 'pies.

Were you at the games this year where we got absolutely smashed in the midfield?

Check out the Melbourne, Carlton and Sydney games and tell me our midfield "is not a need".

Aish probably doesn't seem as appealing to many having endured two years in an awful Brisbane side, but he's a former number 7 draft pick who we were extremely bullish on in what's proven to be a very strong draft. He only slipped past us because Scharenberg slid to our pick 6. In short, he's a very high calibre player. I'd have thought two 2nd rounders was more than reasonable - in a couple of years, we might be looking back on it as a steal.

Its great to finally read chat without the name of Scharenberg being bought up. Mind you his last vfl game in a final as well where he looked like the schackles had been taken off his feet was pretty awesome I felt. Man I'm really excited about 2016 re.

Am i the only one who wouldnt be that disappointed if we didnt get Aish?

I am keen to get him, particularly if Hine and Bucks have identified him as a talent they want in the team, but 2 2nd rounders feels like a bit of a price to pay (although not super overs), and I am not entirely convinced that Aish is either an immediate clear improvement to our 22, (eg. Treloar) or provides something we don't already have. (Howe).
If we get him - great.
If its at a price that Hine thinks is appropriate - great. (and that might be the 2 2nds)
But if Brisbane are being dicks about it and we are stretching too much to get him? Maybe we should just let him go in the PSD and take our chances with the draft picks.

(the only worry is what happens with Oxley, and given there's been no word about him recently does that mean its just accepted he will walk to Brisbane for free in the PSD?... Which would make the whole situation feel pretty bitter... Or have we resigned him and i never noticed?)

Did you miss the part where I said, unless they have elite speed and footskills? Midfield is not a need because we have an abundance of quantity there at this point, some quality, but all very young and developing (so not going anywhere anytime soon and needing gametime there to develop). The only reason to add to what is becoming an overcrowded midfield is if they are of superior quality to what is already there. Treloar absolutely fits, Aish doesn't really. He's basically more of what we've got, with a number of question marks. In fact I'd put more of a premium on a mid with breakaway ability, as I feel we already have a number of guys who can get the hardball and feed it out. Aish doesn't fit that profile.

Aish or two unknown 2nd round draftees?

I would take Aish every day of the week.
I don't quite look at it like that. I like our chances of getting at least one good player out of those second rounders that fills an area of genuine need than Aish being a good player in an area that already is looking overcrowded, and should be one of the better midfields in the comp within the next few years without him. Even if said player is not quite as good as Aish (and Aish has plenty of question marks himself), it is better for the team if it's in a bigger area of need, like up forward. It's doubly important for me given we don't have first rounders for the next two drafts.

Could we somehow trade in another future 2nd rounder so we have two for Brisbane.

We already have the saints one.

The only ways would be:

- to trade out another player for a future 2nd rounder; or
- trade one of our 2nds this year for another clubs future one.
