Leigh Matthews on 3AW right now reiterating Brisbane's stance that he won't be traded.

5 stages of grief playing out before our very eyes.

We had stage 1 (denial) over the last week. (They thought he might re-sign, lol how cute). Now they are in stage 2 (anger). "We're letting you go for nothing out of spite" they are saying.

Tomorrow or perhaps over the weekend they will hit stage 3 (bargaining). Reports will air that Brisbane are trying to talk Aish into staying, just as they did with Reddo.

When it all goes quiet we will know they are in stage 4 (depression). This is where they are with Reddo now, and this is the stage they will linger in the longest. Prepare to hear reports saying talks have stalled, or are off altogether.

10-12 days from now they will enter stage 5 (acceptance) and Aish will be a Magpie in 2 weeks time.

Unfortunately in that time period we will also have to deal with their unevolved Neanderthal fans being stuck in stages 1 and 2 and wanting to come on here and tell us all about it. A fun two weeks awaits.

I agree Aish is the cream not the cake, so its no massive loss if the Lions have a cry. I just hope we then go hard on all the equalisation bs that keeps their turd of a club afloat.

Lets not turn this in to the bay guys, I'm sure there is plenty of room in the basement down there if you do want to have a little fun but let's try and keep it a little more civilised in here.

Sure, have a spring in your step, but keep the discussion to Collingwood and Aish and not Brisbane bashing.

I'm sure there will be plenty of us that want to engage in reasonable discussion with Lions supporters both here and on their board so be mindful of that please.

And yes TradeDraft - it is way too early to roll out the "Welcome to Collingwood James Aish" thread or even bags it!

Would love for Pendles to tweet something like "Aisho going nowhereo Leppo".

But he is too classy to do that. Maybe Swanny can. Lol.
This is a job for one and only....

Adam Trololololoar :D :D :D

PicaBoo you are up my son. Go forth and troll Leppo and his boyso

I have to say, whether he ends up here or not, I'm happy to see Brisbane self owning. They will struggle to get a priority pick if they qualify in the near future if they give away their young players without accepting anything in return.

As long as we get Treloar. I could live with the Aish Trade not Happening but I would rather both Happen

Pickers will have something up his Sleeve

It's funny how our opinions of player managers change depending on whether they're bringing players to us or not.

6 years ago, we all thought Paul Conners was a great bloke, a gentleman and a scholar, a friend to our great club. Now after his work the last 12 months he is public enemy number 1!

Suddenly, listening to Pickering speak about Collingwood and Aish today, I was struck by how much he has lifted his game of late...

They are all Sleeze Bags but hey I not the only 1 here thinking the same as you posted

Liam Pickering gets players to where they want to go.
I can't think of one time where he has failed

TBH, once all the dust settles and Brisbane see the writing on the wall (with the help of the AFL, AFLPA and Specsavers), I can see this being a fairly straight forward trade.
Aish for Oxley and second rounder or Aish for 2 x second rounders.

If my son was an AFL footballer, I'd want Pickers in his corner fighting tooth-and-nail.

You say this now, but I guarantee once it sinks in how good Aish could be for us and that he has nominated us, you will also become obsessed with the idea.

Hell, I can even remember how excited you got when Clinton Young nominated us.

... We've been here way too long.

Aish is a Great Prospect but Treloar is Better. Better Now and in the Future.

Aish is still a Unkown Prospect Really

What are the chances that Carlton wont pick Aish up in the PSD because he only wants to be at collingwood? States 1 Season contract and then i want a trade to pies to whoever takes him ala Nathan Buckley ;)

I can't see Aisho risking burning his bridges with the Brions unless Pickers has given him some assurances he'll get where he wants to go.

As an aside, this must surely spell the end of the "Aish was given the option to move to Collingwood as part of the Beams trade but declined" narrative. Clearly Brisbane just vetoed the idea.

Agree - Lions Screwed themselves here.

They could of Given us Pick 5 and Aish for Beams. Instead we get pick 25(Greenwood) and Crisp and we still might get Aish

I think thats ultimately what will happen.

I doubt anyone is going to draft aish with a top 20 if he doesnt want to play for them. He will find his way to us im sure.

Or we can be safe and try to trade our second rounders for a later first to secure him. Then we will also still have another second rounder most likely

If they don't trade him we can give Sydney 2 second rounders for there first (14) and pick him up that way Brisbane are losing the plot
Yep. Can people please desist with Aisho to the PSD. Not a hope in hell he goes to that draft. No way he changes his mind and stays at Brisbane. Not the type of lad or family that would take being bullied all that well.

We just have to be reasonable with them. We make a decent offer. Oxley & 2nd rounder or 2 X 2nd rounders or upgrade 2 X rounders to pick 14(I'd think Swans would be keen on that for Mills. It's worth more points)

If they decline, we just say " OK fat Swann, we'll leave this on the table for you. If you don't like our deal which we think is very reasonable, we'll just get him in the National draft".

From Aisho's perspective, no one will take a guy that doesn't want to play there with a top 10. You might take that risk with a later pick and certainly in the PSD. Worst case Aisho gets picked up by Bulldogs, Richmond or Adelaide. At least he'll be a big chance of playing finals. He just refuses to talk to anyone and remains staunch he wants to get to Colingwood. Much the same way Brisbane are approaching a potential trade.

If we can secure Swans pick 14 or NM pick 15, I'd back us in to secure him in the ND. If we can manage to secure Gold Coasts pick 19 via Seedsman and 2nd rounder then we'd still be a decent chance.

I've got a gut feeling they have Oxley locked in and planned on getting him via the PSD. Now when Oxley announces his intentions, we just say sure " let's make a deal". I just figure they'd love to slam it in our face but Aisho has made it backfire badly.

Why are they not saying the same thing about Jack Redden?
Is it okay to take Redden but not Aish. Redden's self confidence would be at an all time low given todays chest pumping. They want Aish more than him?

Real professionalism shown here by Brisbane. Smacks of the Luke Ball saga with St Kilda except that St Kilda at least tried to entertain the idea of a trade. Brisbane totally refusing.

And they wonder why they are where they are as a club!
