Aka said the umpires were biased by the crowd and to look at where Brisbanes frees were pain (on the wing) and Pies(in the fifty). Also that most of the 50/50 decisions wenrt the pies way.He stressed it was a personal opinion not a club one but that something needed to be done about it.

I honestly think that he doesn't mean any harm by shooting off his gob like that....it's just his nature as a Queenslander.

You'd think that the fact his club just won the biggest game of the year, he would be content with that.

Wonder if the club will pay that fine, or if he'll have to pay for his own stupidity?

I mean it is wrong that players arent allowed to comment, but if you know youre gonna get slugged for it why bother really?
 
Yes, but each board is meant to be for topics relating to that particular team, general topics such as this are reserved for the AFL board.

Coincidentally, Frodo posted this same thread on the main board as well.

He's only saying what most football fans are saying also...its just that he is a player and therefore will get fined for it. I say good on him, for once he has opened his mouth about something correct...

yeah. Although he is a loud mouth and all I still like him and think he's great for the game

I agree with Jod. I reckon Akers is a champ. He is a great footballer, and has some personality. He is trying to draw some attention to the game in QLD. We don't have the Breratons, Hawkins and the Dippers of the 80's, and that is what I think is the main problem with our game today. Everyone is scared to voice their opinion, just because the AFL might frown upon what they say. We need some personalities back in the game, and Akermanis is one of them.

I agree - to a point.

I think there's a time to shut up too. The day after you win the tightest grand final in 13 years in which the umpires had little to no impact is not the time to be bagging the umps.

He's great for footy, I just reckon Lethal would love a mute button some times.

And I don't know why I go for the Dockers either, but it is great ;) It will be well worth it one day, when I start sticking premiership stickers on my car :)
