having lived in geelond and south east queensland i can say the his effect on a community and kids is huge, he is not always viewed as a ******** and his ability is unquestionable. Comparisons here with current players is a long bow as somebody noted his achievments, and he is that good.
I hate his TUDE as well but would trade it IF we FINALLY WIN A PREMIERSHIP in a heartbeat, if we don't it's a bad call, if we do it's genius.

I happen to have heard with my own ears that same Bomber say he would be very interested in Acker coming to Geelong. Few things, he could definately fit into the side with Gaz and Chapman. In fact might ease the pressure on someone like Gaz who gets tagged week in week out. Would also consider playing him on the wing/half forward, the guy can bomb goals from 50 on both sides of his body.

SJ + 2nd is MORE than fair. Really i think it is about what another club is considering paying

He is not on 500,000 a year, secondly he is still under contract next year so Brisbane have to pay part of his salary! Let him do his media and outside ventures, in fact encourage it, helps keep price down and make him happy. Performance based contract, backload a little.

Have a look at his game against Geelong at the Gabba last year, one of the best individual performances of all time. Up there with the all-time greats on his day. Can do things no-one else can do would be absolutely delighted to take him on board. These media commentators have no idea, ‘there is not much interest’ you have to be kidding. There will be 15 clubs asking the question by trade week. Salary an issue, how much does the Addy pay for a column? in fact he could take over the entire sports section for all I care, at least it would be interesting. Though I would not be surprised if he takes a pay cut to join a strong team, he will have a massive point to prove and would love to do it in September.

maybe i am the only one that disagrees but i dont want to blow a couple of draft picks for aker! This years draft is supposed to be a gold mine so if we are trading picks NO THANK YOU. But it we have trading 2nd tier players than maybe we could give him a go. Hes not worth it if we could be getting a future super young prospect (excluding hawkins whom we already get )

That's a good point - in a year that is supposed to be as good, if not better, than 2001 why give up kids who could become the next Nick del Santo or Matt McGuire (especially when the talk is that many are ready to slot straight in at elite level) for a player we don't need? Akermanis is at the end of his days as a midfielder and will probably play out the next few seasons rotating through a forward pocket. We have Junior, Chappy, SJ and Stokesy, we don't need another midfielder/small forward.

I have absolutely no interest in getting Aker. He is a self-absorbed, spoilt, loud-mouthed little twit, who puts himself before his team, and lacks any sembelance of humility. He won't take any responsibility for his actions, so we don't need him. No, I would rather trade Kingsley, Playfair, Mackie, Koulouritis, Gardiner, Slade and Spencer for seven or eight draft picks. This year is a rich draft, and picking seven or eight kids (including Tom Hawkins) could give us three or four superstars , hopefully, and build a nucleus of a future premiership side. We may even get the next "Akermanis" in the draft (without the loud mouth hopefully).

id have thought you could do straight up trades, ie a player for a player without the need to include picks.

I never suggested we give away a player and picks without a return. Surely we can exchange our lower picks around and still have 3 picks. Meaning instead of pick 40 for example we'd have their pick 50. It's not like we're robbing ourselves of anything, we've already got a top 3 player in Hawkins coming on board anyway.

No, I didn't hear or read that. I did read some pretty astute views from Acker who Lethal thought he could turn into a scapegoat, because his (Matthews') character flaws surface when he's losing the plot (remember the Bruns incident?). The fact is Matthews has his ambitions mixed up with his capabilities, not Acker. Matthews has cut off his and his club's nose to spite his face, not Acker. Acker's no mug. Matthews is. For all his ballyhoo and witchhunting, Matthews just put another nail in his own coffin. Brisbane will be carrying his casket for the next three years, until he crashes and burns. Meanwhile, Acker will be showing us why he's one of the top three players to play the game in the last 50 years.

Bomber built this team from the ground up.

Lets face it, he'll need to give away one of his love-childs and a big name Cat in order to be able to fit the Aker into our salary cap, Aker is on about 400k or there abouts.

Kelly has been thrown around.. but I doubt we will trade Kelly regardless of the shocking season hes had his back and shoulder aint helped and should still be resting in the 2's.
