Akermanis has said he is no certainty to re-sign with the Lions at the end of the year citing he might need a new challenge.

Would anyone here like to get him on our list?

Just forget the financial predicamants we have for a moment as that usually spoils everything :( . But it would be interesting to see what Bulldog fans would make of recruiting a guy like him.

If he is available and Brisbane were reasonable in what they would want for him of course you would look at him, all 15 clubs would. He has said that he has a preference for Sydney if he left the Lions.

Make that a triple premiership player, localyokel. ;)

It would certainly be interesting to have both N.Brown and J.Akermanis in the one team!

Oh, and yeah, we'll take Sam Power, thanks . . .

Having said that dual premiership players dont fall off trees.
Who said the lions would want too much for him. sometimes clubs let players go for less than their value. I heard of one club that let a ruckman named Illya Grcic go for an untried and unsuccesful rookie, and then there was a player Simon Cox let go for nothing, and a player Kingsley Hunter for the same and a club let go a couple named Powell and Montgomery for...

Hey wait a minute:mad:

Know where you are going MrW but we did get a draft pick for Kingsley. Can't remember if it was Bassett, Brad Murphy or Cam Wight?

Thanks for that Chops.

Despite his (apparently) impressive performances in the practice games I am not yet convinved that we didn't take Basset with a lower pick than we had to.

Seriously though, the Bulldogs could be in quite a good position, come the prospect of a trade involving Sam Power going to the Lions. We've got a number of decent players who could be fairly useful to WB over the next few seasons - positional requirements considered.

McLaren would be a handy pick-up, being able to play ruck and key-position (although, he's still a bit raw at the moment, but has shown steady improvement).

Perhaps a trade of McLaren and someone like Bradshaw (or similar) in exchange for Sam Power could be beneficial for both clubs.

no thanks

Bradshaw is only ok and I doubt McLaren will make it. Besides we already have enopugh raw talls.

bring Jonathon Brown into the equation and you will get more interest.

My view on Akermanis is that it would be great to have him. A genuine matchwinner who would give the team a massive boost in energy and confidence. Having Aker means less need to play Garlick, Dimma, Eagle with all due respect to those guys.

No idea who McLaren is and Bradshaw is 186cm, we have too many players of this size.
Sam Power was picked at 10 and Clayton was rapt to get him that late. Towards the end of last season Power showed enough to suggest that he is not going anywhere.

I don't smoke - ANYTHING.

My point was more about the poor exchanges we have negotiated in the past. I thought Ilija was a staright swap for Trew but as OldSchool points out we also got Dent so maybe it wasn't so bad. I think our trading has got better in recent years but given the othet two i mentioned plus Penny and Ellis I think overall we are still on the debit side of the trade balance ledger. Plus we did take Dimma (cheap shot I know but I couldn't resist, just ignore it)

Thje Powers arent queenslanders, their vics. If there is any reuniting to be done it would be heading south, not north.

We had no choice with Quinlan. If we didnt clear him to Fitzroy for the ill fitting skivvie he was of to Yarraville in the VFA and we would have got zilch.

I tend to think if the Power boys are reunited it will be in Victoria and not in Qld. I also think that Sam will be the stand out player of the two. He can get rid of the ball better and quicker than anyone I have ever seen.
