That's what I mean. If we announce Clarko tomorrow, and haven't negotiated an early exit from his contract, then he's still bound to Hawthorn.

Stuff like discussing staffing moves with our CEO as Event Horizon suggested would be a clear breach of contract and leave Clarko and us wide open to legal action.
And if you think Kennett has not got someone watching this reeaaaaly closely so that he can stop the money tap you are being naive.

My mum was born in Sheffield. And Sheffield Wednesday wear blue and white stripes. It seemed so logical at the time.

Did she have a shield?

As discussed previously, Gil wants all 18 clubs to vote for a Tassie team in principle, but it'll be kicked down the road to like 2030.

Clarko coming to us early ruins the delicate charade that allows Gil to say he delivered a Tassie team.
Clarko has never committed to Tassie. His involvement with north is of little consequence to the discussion.

Extremely unlikely unless he overtly poaches people specifically from the Hawks during his contract period.

l would even take a handshake agreement from Clarskon and announce it if he still has a contract with Hawthorn. Surely thats a loophole...
Unlikely his contract would prevent an announcement. He just can’t actually do work.

If I were Hawthorn I'd be saying you can get out once our season is done, purely for the distraction element of Lord Clarkson changing clubs while they've still got games to play.

Surely Hawthorn would not act that spitefully towards a 4 time Premiership Coach?

Yeah, Jeff Kennett has always seemed such a lovely guy....

And for some reason, I just remembered the South Park episode called Chicken Lover.

Of course. I almost included a comment about Jeffrey in my earlier email, but decided I would try to be nice for a change.

I doubt that is the issue. I think there just needs to be a discussion about who needs to come, who needs to go, determine a direction, strategy, performance criteria, etc and then get everyone to tick everything off from the CEO, the board, etc. Get all the legal paperwork done, approved. He will obviously have greater scope here than Noble had, will probably have more license to change things. It would be a complex process because we have brought people over during Noble, what agreements have we made, how will that impact what Clarkson wants to do, how does it impact our soft cap, etc.

Even if there is an understanding in principle, it might take some time for it to be in a position where everyone is ready to announce it.

Pull it in campaigners. We all know we’re gonna end up with Hinkleys.

Some morons over on their board are so desperate for Clarko they think Ed's reporting yesterday is part of some wider conspiracy of the 'media and other vic clubs looking out for North/their own'

Is this the same Ed that just a month ago pushed the idea that we play half our games in Tasmania?

Also some other pearlers about he is "no chance" to coach here because "he won't want to be part of a 5 year rebuild". He literally is quoted as saying he'd be willing to take on a 5 year rebuild if he saw potential in a list.

Exactly. None of the contract stuff precludes an announcement.

Meh..we could do worse, I mean he is out of prison, seems to be trying to get fit, and has proven in the past he can be a very goal oriented man

No one has even seen the contract. Who knows what out clauses are written into it.

Clarko tells us who he wants working with him at the club then they will walk in ahead of him to do all the ground work. This is a dumb topic.

To be fair, Jeff did some great things in this state.

My personal favourite was the time he released Al Clarksons from his Hawthorn contract. 👌

Along with rickety & I do have a soft spot for the owls as they were my Nans side

might be onto something there....though it would be 5th North Premiership... and Kennedy did a lot of groundwork for Pagan....perhaps he'd like to follow in the footsteps of Kennedy but go 1 better and win a flag at north.

Sorry wasn’t clear, the story is relating Clarko’s 4th as our Coach and so 8th for NMFC!

How about old Elmer popping in to say there’s talk here in Melbourne that the AFL are going to bribe Al to coach us but they wouldn’t pay an ambassador bonus for the franchise they really need to get right.
