It's Olsen, there would always be something else happening, maybe this was a smokescreen.

I doubt they want top be at Thebby......

'

Mystery sites in the mix for Crows

The developer working to find a new home for the Adelaide Crows has revealed Thebarton Oval isn’t the only option being considered.'

Damn you Murdoch, can't get passed the firewall, Mozilla no longer works....

This is, as most things Advertiser and the Crows, all piss and wind. No substance, just a click and bait sea of nothingness.

This is what the article says in a nutshell:

Ross Pelligra reveals three sites in mix for Crows

“We’ve got three other properties at the moment that we’re working on – I can’t say where."

“Exactly what our masterplan is, is what we’re now going to locate on another site. We’ve worked out what the best surrounds for the grounds are, and the facilities needed, the outcomes for businesses and the size of the training facility. We have a very good mud map and now it’s site selection to fit that map.”

Mr Pelligra’s comments contrast with those of Crows chairman John Olsen, who has said the club’s attention would now focus on setting up its new base at Thebarton Oval.

There it is. More hollow BS.

And a developer saying he has other options he's looking at in an attempt to drive down the price of the only option he has. Wow!!

And just below that story we have another bit of ground breaking journalism from the Advertiser:

This is hilarious

It's called the Advertiser for a reason. But jeez what gold plated bullshit is that?

They don't even pretend any more do they?

Which plan do you prefer?

pick one sci-fi GIF

It's a bit disingenuous calling their proposed oval 'community green space'. I mean it's in the community, and it's green, but it's not like the average person could run out on to the oval any time they like.

Bit of kikuyu planted over a toxic waste dump is what they were proposing. Kept vacant to avoid the high cost of toxic land remediation that would have been required by law under any building or above ground development.

What a great community space. Invite your mates over for a picnic!

With the current climate of COVID pricing and transit times if building a new home is anything to go by, this is going to blowout to be x2 what the expected cost will be. Good luck in passing on the cost to the members.... I say, stay put at West Lakes for now and wait to for the COVID pricing to settle before committing to a huge loan. Right now its a sellers market in SA for land, maybe in 3 years time it will be a buyers market....

Seriously, 450million so that the Crows can have oval to train on and to entertain 2-5k members to go back to the club to piss up... WHO's debt are we paying off...

I dont trust John Olsen as far as I can throw him... he has a conflict of interest IMO.

Yeah not a bad point, the costs of building supplies let alone labour is insane, great time be in the trades.

Well that really only leaves Thebarton doesn’t it? Unless there is another oval already existing as a starting point?

The only other alternatives would still be some of the odd dead bits of parkland, ice arena area maybe (need to convince the council) - I still think the area near Keswick Barracks / old LeCornu site could be looked at? Although that’s owned by Renewal SA too.

Thebarton in my mind seems off brand for them, maybe they will have no choice.

My bold. Is this the Karen Rolton oval? If so you can be sure they'll muscle in on that eventually.
You have Karen Rolton Oval, then to the west of them you have a big green lawn area that they turn into 3 cricket grounds Park 25 No. 1 No. 2 and No. 3 ovals, all relatively small and all going at once on the weekend in cricket season, to the west of them is the railway tracks and then to the west of them is this site which is bound by James Coghlan Drive, Port Rd and the railway tracks.

This site makes good sense really, basically an extension of the other ovals near there.

As REH points out that site (Park25) includes land leased to the SACA - the Karen Rolton Oval and surrounds development is cricket specific and part of the extended negotiations between the ACC and SA Government surrounding the redevelopment of Adelaide Oval and return of AFL to that location. The former SA Water site to the west, known as Narnugga Urban Forest, is in need of replenishment but any push to put extensive private development on that site would be strongly opposed.

Anything is possible but I would humbly suggest there is a better chance of Warren Tredrea being the next Chair of the Adelaide Crows than the Crows being allowed to establish training and club facilities on that site (it is too small for their needs anyway).

Is the old SA Water site west of the railway line now considered to be part of Gladys Elphick Park/Narnungga (Park 25)?

Edit: Re-read your post an see that that area is the Narnugga Urban Forest.

The Camry Crows should not be allowed to build a facility on any of this land. Why are the so obsessed with getting free land?

It's all part of this BS notion, pushed by media ambassadors and the Advertiser, that the Crows are part of the community fabric of the city/state of Adelaide, SA and so any development they undertake is necessarily in the best interests of all South Australians current and future.

And if you believe that piece of prime BS then it's an easy next step to swallow the notion that community owned land should, of course, be gifted to the Adelaide Football Club Inc via long term lease.

The fact that the Adelaide Football Club Inc. is solely owned by the AFL based at AFL House in Docklands Melbourne and that, like us, all but 2 of the Governing Board of that organisation are appointed by the AFL is never discussed. Put simply it is a private corporation owned by an interstate company.

They really should follow Port Adelaide's lead from 150 years ago and get one of their loyal business supporters to donate a large portion of his/her privately owned land for the location of their HQ rather than trying to continually trying sponge a free ride off the community assets of the SA public as if it was their birthright.

One of the most interesting pieces of parkland are I've always thought 'only in Adelaide' could this land sit here with horses on it in this day and age is near Hackney Rd, always thought that was such an odd park of Nth Adelaide.

You mean bound by Robe Tce and Lefevre Tce. Hackney Rd starts where the Oban buses go in and out of the tunnel near Park 9. The horsey set seem to have a lot of control over the ACC.

Isn’t the horsey area opposite the mansions on East Tce where all the old money is?
That's a horsey competition spot. Horses are kept in the NE corner of the Parklands.
