These last few games have been against poor opponents. Its like Curnow playing against North. lol Once they start paying rated SEC teams, with the better players, is when we'll get a better idea if he has improved or not.

That was one thing that I always found surprising about Mase - for a college centre to not be able to protect his space was weird.

Because he was an accidental basketballer. I still find it bizarre that he never played an organised form of the game until college.

Wouldn’t you think at some earlier stage somebody might have thought that could be his sport?

I know, and even though he clearly wasn't much of a basketballer at that level, as a centre, he still would have been drilled continuously on protecting his space for his whole time in that college team - it's a huge chunk of the role.

I can’t claim to be an expert but I would have thought the skills of protecting the space would be wildly different across these sports. AFL a lot more physical?

They're pushing and shoving to protect or access the ball drop. There's a heap of transfer.

Why don’t Collingwood just give him an NBA level contract (Cat B is outside the cap, right?) and make the decision an easy one for Alex?
