Then why did he go back on? Silvagni should get 4 or 5 weeks, but that is poor by West Coast. If the guys Jaw is broken he shouldn't go back on at all.
Oh so we 'have' to play a player down because you have a gutless coward in your side? I'm not a doctor so I can't say why they made that call to send he back out.

Back then players were better off hanging their elbow out and getting the lesser striking charge, compared to tucking it in and getting done for rough conduct.

I'm not sure if they are graded differently anymore.
I highly doubt players would consider that

Its Freo's job to argue for him.
He is accountable for his actions.
AFL Tribunal needs to be accountable for their *credibility when handing down this sentence.
*AFL Tribunal currently has no credibility.
He won't get the 6-8wks it deserves going on past contradictions.

I know what your saying but its not going to be a good week to go to the AFL Tribunal after they pretty much got a bollocking from the AFL itself at the puzzling lenient decision handed out to Cooney, one would suspect that the blow torch would have been applied to the AFL Tribunal's arse and they would be feeling the blisters this week.

I suspect he will get 4.
Simply because it was off the play by some 70 metres and it wasn't a good look, and we all know that Polo Gill is very much about the games image.

Depends on the injury, Leo Barry played the 05 finals series with a depressed fracture in his cheekbone and made it through fine.

Eagles fans acting so holy. What about seaby that dog hit on sandilands. Pfffffff Silvangi missed bump off the ball, take the weeks and move on. People are joking with the length. Anyone see cooneys bump last week...

Going by your logic. Cooney should have received 3wks for a high hit on a player near the ball. So if the tribunal wants to restore some respect, Silvagni should get 6+ weeks for an elbow to the face 60-70m off the ball. Not to set an example, but because that is what it deserves. Tribunal lack of consistency is shit stain on the AFL brand.

If they give Silvagi his right whack, they can't win, because of the previous weeks poor decision. No matter what the outcome is, we will still shake our heads and will be none the wiser when the next case comes up. Sad state of affairs.

'Bump on a player in a contest and an 'elbow to the face 60-70m off the ball are another planet.

The one where Freo's trainer testified on behalf of Seaby and said there was nothing malicious in it, resulting in Seaby getting off?

Freo supporters/sympathizers have a weird definition of dog act considering the examples they are citing resulted in no penalties.

4 weeks. Very stupid.
The severity reminds me of wellinghams hit on Simpson a few years back. One of those ones you look at like ".. Yeah you're in a lot of trouble.."

I missed it at the game even though it happened right in front of my bay. Looks pretty bad - a few weeks there you'd think.

What is it with our key defenders and elbows this year? Don't any of them want to play?

Has to get 3+.

For some reason I think he might get 2..we know the mrp's history.

Is it possible to get 5 weeks? 3 weeks seems to be the maximum handed out in recent times. For quite a few actually pretty different things. Who got more last for a single incident (Harvey's 6 weeks in that final came from a few different charges I think)?

Two charges for Harvey.

It has nothing to do with the game, surely if a player has a broken jaw he doesn't go back on. Simple.
unless you're a medical professional you're really in no position to be giving medical advice or making assumptions. The decision to send him back on the field would have been made with consultation with highly qualified people with a little more knowledge of the situation than some bloke on Big Footy.

The AFL were deeply unimpressed with the Cooney decision. They thought it was weeks light.

I dont think that will happen this week. The MRP will be under pretty strict terms i think.

I thought brown was in trouble, but silvagni will cop the brunt now.

Its worth 6 if they are at all serious.

Chill out mate, it's my opinion. Wouldn't like it if it were any player. I suppose if its broken and can't do any more damage it is probably alright, but hearing he went back on with a broken Jaw sounds a bit iffy to me. Ballsy of Cripps for doing it though.

Commentator : maybe it was just an inadvertent shoulder to jaw

Slow mo replay shows flying elbow straight to the face

To be fair, at that point Jon Brown said it didn't look like much based off a very wide angle shot. As soon as he saw the close up he said Silvagni was in deep trouble.
