I'm filling in on the "City Limits" program on Radio 3CR (855 on the AM dial) this Wednesday morning. I'm going to be talking about a few issues ... but the main one will be the proposed $400 million M.C.G. redevelopment.

It is also expected that I will be interviewing a well-known and much loved and universally respected BigFooty member ... (you know who you are!!!) ... on this very topic.

3CR is a community radio station ...

What is "community radio", I hear you ask.

Well ... "radio" is a quaint twentieth century invention enabling the broadcast of audio material. It is sometimes called "the wireless" ... but I'm not sure why ... because the bloody things are full of wires, actually.

And "community" is another quaint concept that you might find a little strange ... because it involves a group of people with something in common ... working together, interacting for the common good.

This sometimes involves helping the weak ...
And it can also, in some cases, mean mourning the dead.

You guessed correctly. I doubt if 3CR knows what real audio is. We still use reel-to-reel tape, for God's sake. When I'm editing an interview, for example, and I cut something out ... I mean I literally CUT it out ... i.e. with a razor blade ... and then stick the tape back together.

It's amazing. It's like a 1970s time-warp.
