In Q4 of Port v Sydney a Swans fan was seen throwing an object at Port defender Aliir Aliir before words were exchanged between the two behind the Sydney goals. What sanctions (if any) are likely for the Swans fan?

Bad look but zero chance the item thrown was going to having any meaningful physical impact on Aliir.
Depends on what was said between the parties but I think the Swans fan may have to sit out the rest of the season.
Anything more, on the facts available to us now, seems excessive.

Collingwood fan copped a 12 month ban for touching a West Coast player in a non threatening way.

Wouldn’t matter it’s the intent you shouldn’t be throwing anything at anyone let alone at the players or umpires

A man, ‘Jack’, called into 3AW after the game claiming to be the grandfather of a fan, who he indicated was 13 years old and had already been subjected to online “garbage” .

“I’m very disappointed, I’m distraught,” the caller said on 3AW. “Whatever he has done, I don’t condone, but what I’m getting really upset about is the garbage that’s being put on social media.

“He did a stupid thing. His mother is distraught, his grandmother is distraught, I’m really upset.

“It’s not fair. He’s a stupid kid who doesn’t realise what he’s done.

“The ramifications to his family are frightening, I’m just worried about his future.”

Maybe some better parenting and guidance wouldn’t go astray.

Kid is 13 and made a split second poor decision. Aliir’s reaction also totally understandable. A quick talking to and an agreed break of however long from attending the footy with a note to all media outlets to stop discussing it for the sake of the kids wellbeing would be best course of action.

Kid should have better things to do….

Like getting a bunch of mates together with machetes and doing an odd bit of home invasion, with a touch of car stealing.

Would’ve have received less outrage and if he was a Vic, a cuddle from Jacinta.

Not excusing, but perspecting.

So much truth here. Break into a car and post it online, and he'd received zero punishment and tonnes of views.

Even Balta will likely to receive a lesser punishment.

I thought so as well. However I did the frame by frame and pretty sure he only said “w***er” when Aliir confronted him.
Frustrated fan who will get his due penalty, hoping it’s just that.
I'm a lip-reading specialist and it was a solid "f... you". Kids are dumb, they do stupid shit before you can stop them. I'm sure he got a good dressing-down at home. 1 year ban, move on.

A 13 year old turd that hopefully is banned from attending footy for at least a year.

People that throw objects at players on the field aren't welcome at games. Not much outrage coming from the adult woman next to him either, she doesn't even get off her arse at all which speaks volumes.

I thought Aliir held back if anything. How many times would you have someone in the crowd actually throw something at you that hits you.

Disgusting that the kid wasn't strong armed out of the ground after that. Yes it's not quite a car jacking but it's not an arrest either. Just get him out of the ground instead of standing there chatting like that piss weak security guard was doing.

Perfectly summed up.

I know that whatever he threw wouldn't have hurt Allir but throwing anything at players is a big no no. He needs to learn to control his emotions. A year ban and he's learnt the hard way that when you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.

Interaction with player - throwing object at player

Ban the kid for 3 years and make him publicly apologise to Alir on camera. Make the little shit as nervous and uncomfortable as possible. No time for iditos of any age that do this shit and chase the parents down to and boot them for his actions.

Thought it was fun to throw shit and probably abuse a player over the fence. Let him see what it feels like.
