I wouldn't ban the kid from attending games at all just get him to apologise to Aliir and move on, I'd feel differently if it was a 30 year old bogan but a kid gets a chance from me I doubt he'll ever do it again.

Agree. It would be tough for a child as players are interacting more with fans these days - turning to the crowd to celebrate a goal or shhhh'ing the crowd.

Whats wrong with parents these days? My son had of done that, he would have got an immediate clip across the ear and no security would have been needed, I would have thrown him out myself, camera or no camera.
And then your the one being plastered all over the media/footy shows as the bad guy.

I highly doubt he ended up in a police cell. I would say that’s a concoction by someone. Good talking to and apology to the player concerned, and that should be the end of the matter.
I agree, but the AFL has regularly set precedence in this area.
They will have to set a lengthy ban as they have in the past and to deter it in future.
That it comes about on the same weekend that they allowed a player awaiting sentencing for serious assault to return to play is just another example of the double standards that exist.

Kids are dumb and do dumb things sometimes

Don’t really think he should cop a substantial ban or anything, he’s probably been scared shitless already just from the cops talking to them

Maybe give him a month or two ban and leave it at that

If it was a drunken adult it’s a different story

Ban him from sitting near the fence for a year. He can sit up the back - still gets to go, lesson learnt.

BTW - just how are these bans actually enforced. What ID would a 13 year old kid have anyways?

What’s a “youth caution”
Probably the shovel they use to dig themselves out of the predicament of needing to look firm but not so firm as to look hypocritical in light of other recent decisions.
Must have been quite a conundrum.
