All ANZ games relocated to the SCG.

Lets face it...the only reason Ed sticks his head up again these days is because he knows Colless isnt around to slap him about and tell him to STFU.

Are a few pies fans feeling inconvenienced ? Gosh how unfortunate.

I'm just imagining the pies fans on the train back to Homebush after the match grumbling about how they would have won, what an outrage, never again, bloody Sydney, etc, etc

Well lol at all of you

This has probably been brought up, but i heard on the news that if Sydney get a home final they still have to use ANZ for their home final this year

14 kms from the CBD is not the middle of nowhere. Spot on about your fickle comment though. Sydneysiders are terribly territorial to the point that its almost suburban racism!
Also our public transport system is terrible and generally full of pirates and rapists (allegedly).

Have you had the misfortune to travel out there? Its in the middle of nowhere, a wasteland off the beaten track and with Sydney traffic, you get half way there and question your motivations to even attempt the journey.

s**t venue, shine wears off, crowds fall. Juventus had the same issues with the stadio delle alpi in turin which was built for Italia 90 and athletics. their average crowds were down to under 40k just prior to relegation for match fixing in 03/04. they were above 50k when the venue opened in 1990.

wasn't it the AFL that essentially entered these deals on behalf of the Swans? after the Olympic Games, the AFL contributed a significant amount of coin to **** up the stadium for an AFL configuration, so the AFL insisted that games were played there.

then you have the issue of the League Chairman being directly involved in the management company for the venue.

it's still not an entirely great outcome as there is still a potential of the venue hosting a final or two if the swans are entitled to it this season.
Why was the independent Sydney allowing the AFL negotiate venues for them when they had the best venue in town and funnily enough near the centre of town?

What was in it for Sydney to give away their negotiation rights?

Thats piss funny.
I wonder who leaked it to the press

Collingwood appear to have gone to water

Fasolo looking out for number one

As much as most Swans' fans hate the place, there is a positive from it. The Swans had a terrible deal with the SCG Trust. ANZ with the games played there and possibility of moving there gave leverage to get the long term deal that is now in place with the SCG.

AFL own Sydney's license, they are as independant as the AFL commission.

Right decision, bad communication and an even worse attitude from Pridham that compounded the angst. If the change was done right there wouldn't have been any issues and no need for Pert to vent on radio.

All that was required was the simple courtesy of keeping Collingwood informed of what was happening, they could have maintained their hold on city hotels and worked on a solution for fans put out. A 40 odd minute drive might not seem much for a footy club, but clubs like to begin recovery asap and it's likely to have an effect there. In terms of fans lot of displeasure could have been avoided if Collingwood where able to respond by saying we've organised buses or another solution. Something like that really should have been announced by the AFL at the same time as the venue change.
Ah! The voice of reason, commonsense and courtesy. You'll never do very well on a thread such as this.

This year it will be 14 years in a row that Sydney has got a home game against Collingwood.

In only 5 of these years has Collingwood also received a home game against Sydney. (3 at the G, 2 at Ethiad)

Now Pridham, with his comments has pretty much spat in our supporters faces about costing them time and money I for one think Sydneys preferential fixturing will stop now, and they brought it on themselves... but will blame Eddie when they lose their cash cow game from every year.

(Just like blaming Eddie for losing Cola... or should I say the "Buddy Allowance" o_O)

Some absolute bs in this thread, a normal travel insurance policy is not going to cover this scenario, even with top of the range cover with no excess the most you would get is $50 for a cab ride. As for refundable accom/flights only costing $10 more lol, some hard trolling by the Snobettes.
Keep trying to justify it, but a no excess policy you would get what you claim (within the limits)

Sydney would scream blue murder if they lost their annual hate Collingwood match. If Collingwood had the good fortune of losing the poor payday of a Sydney game in Melbourne, I'm not sure we would even notice.

Would glady lose the Collingwood game form the schedule, one less game we have to put up with Collingwood supporters sprouting on..Winning:D

Ahhh not quite , at least you have public transport every 10 mins or so from Homebush to the City.

On game days you do...

Appears the AFL are covering for Sydney again.

http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2016-03-02/assistance-offered-to-affected-fans

THE AFL has moved to address concerns of Collingwood supporters inconvenienced by the change in venue for the round one clash between the Magpies and the Sydney Swans from ANZ Stadium to the SCG.

The announcement blindsided the Pies and many of their supporters who had made arrangements to stay in Sydney and attend the game over Easter.

However after discussions with Collingwood on Tuesday, AFL general manager of clubs and operations Travis Auld announced a plan to minimise the impact on fans of the late decision.

"Having spoken to Collingwood, the AFL is encouraging fans who have booked accommodation in the Homebush area to contact Collingwood on 1300 MAGPIE (1300 62 47 43) during business hours," Auld said.

"The AFL will work with Collingwood to offer alternate travel arrangements to the SCG for those fans."
