Re: Brett Kirk - Bit Stiff?

Defected for $

Are you best mates with him or something? He left the Weagles because he wanted to come home, nothing more, nothing less.

and led a team nowhere....10th
The greatest captain on Earth couldn't lead Carlton any higher than tenth. Chris Judd wasn't the reason they finished 10th, it is the rest of their list.... Carlton are rebuilding and will threaten soon.

Ridiculous choice as captain
Who do you suggest then? Tom Harley? Just because you have good players around you does not mean you are the best captain, granted he does sound like a good leader.

Chris Judd is a good choice. Last year it was Mcleod...

And for all you muppets carrying on about Mackie and Enright.
Mackie and Shaw are the same age. Get a grip u blokes, Heath managed to still average 20+disposals for the year including the games he was getting tagged.
Personally The afl and geelong are to far in each others arse

Re: If Tom Harley was NOT captain of Geelong...

I can't stand that argument, it's rubbish. So only Geelong fans are qualified to comment on anything pertaining to their backline? And anything I, and other Hawk fans, say about Hawthorn is also not up for debate?

That's great because I think our forward line would function far better without Buddy, he should remain on the bench. Please don't argue, what would you know?

That's nice...pity I never said anything about rating Mackie ahead of Enright. Nothing.

I said both Mackie & Enright were more deserving than Harley. That's all. And they are IMO.
Fine. Anyone who rates Mackie ahead of Harley is arguing way above their heads.

And as for your stupid analogy, in this case we have one Hawthorn fan arguing with several Geelong fans. Who would you back in a discussion about a few Geelong players?

Mackie is Geelong's most overrated player without a doubt. Harley is better defensively, and is a better disposal. Mackie is obviously a better runner but that's basically his only great attribute. His kicking can be very ordinary.

Then what else did Judd do to make him the AA captain? Answer - Win a premiership in 2006, and have two awesome years with West Coast.

oh and Nathan Bock at centre half back. lol please. has he played on a number 1 forward yet. No! i think Ben rutten and Nathan Basset were taking the first 2. Then someone like Johncock would be taking the 3rd best who would be the oppositions small forward.
Which leaves Bock to take a half forward player/pocket. I was suprised Trent Croad, Max Hughdton or maybe Daniel Merrett were not given much notice. 3 blokes who always get the top 2 forwards.
And for all you muppets carrying on about Mackie and Enright.
I honestly, not being biast or nothing. Heath Shaw. Went way under the radar by selectors. Have Mackie or Enright been tagged yet of Half Back. Not once in their career they have? Mackie and Shaw are the same age. Get a grip u blokes, Heath managed to still average 20+disposals for the year including the games he was getting tagged.

lol don't u remember him playing on frnaklin? He also played on cloke a week and a half ago mate, he has played on the best forwards before

As well, Heath shaw had breakout games but when tagged by adma selwood he got 7 posessions and no marks and other games he has been tagged he hasn't handled the tag well at all, got his avg posessions because of some breakout games but never handled tag well. Against essendon he was tagged by monfries and did hopeless, but ur right he did draw a tag unlike mackie but not AA material, could have been in squad and missed out like mackie

Enright was tagged a bit late in the season IIRC. It's just that it's a waste of time to tag our defenders because you're wasting valuable taggers that could be on guys like Ablett, Bartel, Corey and even Selwood.

Even Brent Guerra got tagged this year, it's not that huge an achievement.

Swap Judd for Harley.

Cats still finish top. With no losses and a larger %. Bartel, Ablett and Corey in awe of their captain and are aware of there place as second stringers behind the Juddernaut.

Carlton and Dees battle off for pick 1 in the draft. Harley compared to Richie Vandenberg.

I actually like this team quite a bit, for once. Usually there are a few players that I disagree with. No major qualms with this one. Pretty balanced.

I am surprised that Hille did not get the spot, but I feel Sandilands is a very worthy recipient. Absolutely dominated in the ruck, and far improved around the ground.

Actually I think that selecting Sandilands has restored some credibility to the selectors in my eyes. I'm glad they chose the ruckman that played better in the ruck, rather than the guy that kicked more goals.
God that must have been a tough decision though.

Pavlich in theres a joke - MINIMAL influence on his teams pefromance this year - unlike Riewoldt who has dragged us over the line for the second half of the season.

Harley is THE luckiest AA of all time and the classic "Des Headland" in a good team syndrome....seriously dont rate.

Judd as Captain WTF?

If we are including the likes of Pavlich then guys like Bradshaw have had better years ffs.

Spoils? Rebound 50? Stats don't say it all anyway. Cred lost with Dreamteam scores.

Are you Mark Stevens from the Herald-Sun ?
He masturbates over players who have higher stats.Just because a player gets the ball a lot doesn't make them any better than a player who gets it less. It's what they do with the ball when they dispose of it.Find a stat on turnovers and I reckon you'll find Mackie has a looooot more than Harley.

If you're going to use dream team stats to compare them then maybe why not include Joel Bowden, surely his DT stats are better than both!
Though he was all australian twice wasn't he... LOL

Re: If Tom Harley was NOT captain of Geelong...

I don't even know what that dream team shite is anyway....it looked impressive  .....SURE stats don't say "everything", but then why would coaches have a statistician in the box if they meant absolutely buggerall ? I think the main thing the stats show is that Mackie adds more to Geelong's attacking presence, whilst also defending. I know who I'd choose anyway.

Mackie / Harley
2.9 Rebound 50s 2.5
5.5 Errors /turnovers 3.3

22.5 Disposals Per Game 15.2
