From Freo - Lachie Neale and absolutely no one else even remotely near AA.
Michael Walters has been pretty good so far. He's a sneaky chance of being selected in the forward pocket if he can keep his good form up.

19 disposals - 4 marks (1 contested) - 4 tackles - 2 clearances - 5 inside 50s - 1.9 goals per game

James Frawley should be in at this stage, no forward has beaten him all year.
He'd be in my side. Wouldn't say he hasn't been beating though. Schache did pretty good on him(13 disposals, 8 marks, 3 contested marks, 2 goals and 2 behinds), they didn't go head to head for the whole match though IIRC.

Actually my bad Schache is a great young player and probably took the honours that day.

If he keeps playing like he did vs Richmond could push, but 2 missed games, and a few quieter ones i'd have him behind a few at the moment.
Interesting you say that about Wells, but you have Laird in your side even though he just missed 5 games

There's a heap of relevant small/medium defenders this year and Laird is well behind many now imo. He'd have to play out of his skin for the rest of the season without missing any more games to grab a spot, let alone get into the squad of 40.

I'd just about have Wells in the 40 currently, North are a so much better side with him up and going

If we're throwing up Frawley then Henderson would be in the picture as well. Hasn't had any bags kicked on him and is averaging 1.5 more contested marks per game than Frawley. You could really make a convincing argument for a whole lot of KPPs this year.

Henderson doesn't take the number 1 key forward, Frawley does.

He's missed 4 games not 5, players make the team off of 15/16/17 games. If he plays the rest the rest season he should make the team.

Buddy 16 touches, 6 CP, 4 marks, 3 goals 2
Frawley 17 touches, 5 CP, 5 marks

Given Buddy's last 2 goals no defender could possibly stop, I'd say that's pretty even. Certainly nothing to suggest Buddy beat him.
Buddy was the difference maker. Just because no one could stop his goals, doesn't mean he didn't beat his opponent.

Particularly defensively.

I'd be picking Frawley, Talia and Morris as my 3 key backs.
None of Grundy, Rance, Tarrant, Henderson or McGovern would look out of place either.

I'd disagree he's averaging 4 ho's a game would think he should be considered based on his forward play only.
Not saying he doesn't make the side, just that don't think his ruck numbers provide any support for it.

EDIT: Jordan Lewis is only averaging 1 less hitout a game...

He's playing second ruck as his role for Adelaide. He'd be the perfect second ruck to Goldy, who is the best first ruck.

Agree though he couldn't be second ruck to Tippett or Naitanui. He could be to Gawn though.

It was an even dual, Gunston was the best forward on the ground that night.
Only when playing on Callum Mills, a move on our part I still cannot understand. Rampe had kept him completely out of the game, then Horse decides to give the 187cm kid who has literally never played key defence in his entire life (and only played defence at all for the first time this year) the job for a while, with predictable results.

Truly bizarre move and we were lucky to get away with it.
