Fyfe is pretty much a walk-up start as an on-baller in everyone's team. Ablett has basically smashed him in every relevant stat, besides marks.
Out of interest is there anyone else who doesn't have significantly worse stats than Ablett or just Fyfe?

Ah its so hard but that's what I'm going with. Midfield impossible to pick.....which is why Lewis is off a half back flank.
I'm sure people will smash me for it...probably missed someone obvious

No, had you beaten Richmond, you would be playing finals. But you lost, at home, and have since then been sulking about and being bitter.
I'd say he is very likely for the final team. Again, care to wager?
Had we beaten Carlton in round 6, we'd be playing finals. Did Carlton end our season? No. Not sure why you're suggesting it was Rance that ended it either considering it was a terrible night for forwards and Martin was probably BOG.

He isn't very likely for the final team. Mackenzie, Talia and Hooker are very likely for the final team.

No I wouldn't like a wager, as I already stated, because I don't make bets on Bigfooty.

It's nothing against Fyfe. More saying that he is one of the absolute locks in the team, probably the first midfielder that most people will pick in their sides, yet Ablett has pretty much been better than him across the board. Hence, it's more than reasonable for Ablett to be starting in the middle in this team. Again, nothing against Fyfe.

Practically everyone acknowledges Rance's form in the past two months has been stellar. But even before that, back in June, Hardwick suggested he was the best one-on-one player in the competition.

A month ago I'd have said he won't make it due to missing five games, but I think you're going to be disappointed.
A coach pumps up one of his own? Never heard of that happening before.

Two months of "stella" form doesn't put him ahead of Mackenzie, Talia or Hooker - they've been the best performed key defenders all season.

Agree. Mackenzie has been the best FB this year.

So you rate the opinions of Jakovich, Bartlett, McLachlan and Darcy.
Well the AA team is supposedly on picking form footballers. Bartlett is one of the games greatest, Jakovich and Darcy were great players. They might not be the wisest on every issue but youd think on their footballing standing alone theyd be able to spot a good player?

Question re Ablett.

Lets say for arguments sake that Jarred Waite had kicked 50 goals after 15 rounds and was leading the Coleman by 5-10 at that point.
Would you name him as an All Australian KPF right now ?

If his other aggregates stacked up pretty well against the other players in his position who are considered to be locks for the team? Sure.

The equivalent to Ablett's dominance over the competition this year would be more like if Waite led the Coleman race by 20-25 at Round 15.

To match Ablett's level of dominance Waite would have had to have kicked around 60-75. I've got him as bog in eight, possibly nine matches.

Any thoughts on the 100% locks for the team?

I personally only have Fyfe, Franklin and Gray as indisputable. The others I think you could reasonably make a case for their rivals, although those arguments would be fairly weak.

Pretty hard to go past these 3 I'd imagine.

Many greats have had up and down years (or not played enough...), and others are pushing for first selections so hard to lock them in.

Hard argument. I'd say no, Abletts a different kettle of fish though, I would still have Ablett in the team, but on the bench, even as the sub if they pick one.

I'd say Boomer is pretty much a lock on the half forward line. Unless you're talking about players the selectors have locked in.

Boomer is in that next category I mentioned and should be in but we all know the possibility of shoving a full time mid on a half forward flank.

I think Gray has one of those HFF spots sewn up.

I know some may disagree but I really can't see how they don't put in Ablett. Averages wise, he's 2nd in disposals, 1st in clearances and contested possessions, 2nd in goal assists, and 3rd in inside 50s. Rockliff will be very stiff to miss as well.

Just on Nath Jones, it's going to look idiotic if he finishes top 10 in the Brownlow (which, given his first half, is pretty possible) and didn't make the 40.

For the record, I think he's had a better year than Libba, Selwood, Priddis and Ellis.
Melbourne player top 10 in Brownlow.......lol... C'mon mate, really. Only 4 wins doesn't earn many votes
