He's definitely close, but is he ahead of Hurley, Rance, McGovern? It's a tough call. Given I haven't done a team in a while, here's my next go:

FB: Easton Wood - Alex Rance - Jeremy McGovern
HB: Garrick Ibbotson - Michael Hurley - Heath Shaw
MF: Daniel Hannebery - Matthew Priddis - David Armitage
HF: Chad Wingard - Jeremy Cameron - Mark LeCras
FF: Eddie Betts - Josh Kennedy - Jack Riewoldt
OB: Todd Goldstein - Nathan Fyfe - Jordan Lewis
IB: Andrew Gaff - Scott Pendlebury - Jack Steven - Isaac Smith
Mitchell would be ahead of Lewis and Smith at Hawthorn I would have thought.

yes but I didn't say Goldstein even won the contest.... "Sandi made Goldy his bitch" with less hitouts, less tackles and less kicks.". you've just joined the stupid brigade with the other guy. congrats.
I watched the game. Sandi was dominant in the ruck and up forward.

I haven''t seen much of Hawthorn outside the two games we played, but Lewis killed us on both occasions and is doing really well in the disposals and inside 50's department so I included him. Happy to concede the point though.

I give up. This is going around in circles, you clearly won't accept it when you're wrong.
Sorry, but its you that cant accept that fact that youre wrong. As the other guy said many times, Hogan did win the contest, but 2 goals is an average return for a full forward. So saying he destroyed him, makes no sense at all.
He averages 2 goals a game this year and kicked 2 goals against Rance. He averages 6.8 marks and took 6 in that game. How is that destroyed. Just because you said he was destroyed doesn't make it true, try to back it up with you know, anything.

Is this argument over a singular word?

"Comfortably beaten" would be a more accurate and less sensationalist description IMO.

Inside Football player ratings and SuperCoach ratings are two measures that would support this.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why it's seen as valid for some to claim that "Player X beat Player Y on a given day, therefore Player X must be better and having a better season", yet if anyone attempted the same sort of argument for teams (eg. "Geelong beat Collingwood, therefore Geelong must be better, even though Geelong lost to Melbourne, who Collingwood also beat."), they'd get (rightly) laughed out of the place.

Go back and watch the game. See how your midfield got destroyed thanks to Sandi dominatinG but you hang onto the hitouts and kicks.

Theres a difference between beaten and destroyed. Just beaten is fine. 2 goals is nothing special.

Higgins has been outrageously good and is a genuine HFF.

The committee will select an inside midfielder at half forward in his place though.

I feel like Jack Steven needs more love. Can he be considered a wingman for AA purposes or is his game too 'inside' these days? Quite an amazing season he's putting together.

I think they'll select Dustin Martin in his place.

While I agree that Higgins has been fantastic, Martin is leading the league in kicks (last time I checked anyway) and spends quite a lot of time at half forward. We all know how important stats are to the AA selectors, as it's blatant that they don't actually watch many games.

Two of Martin, Wingard, Higgins and L.Parker will occupy the half forward flanks IMO. All 4 of them are still in with a shot. I guess they might chuck a Dangerfield, Gray or someone in there, but it hardly seems necessary this year with the outstanding performers at half forward. Dahlhaus and LeCras have also been excellent and could come under consideration with a strong final 8 weeks.

Martin absolutely deserves a spot, in front of Higgins if need be.
