All Divisions General NFNL Discussion Thread

NFNL board's approach to social media is always fascinating. I feel for the league's media team in a way in that they bear the brunt of their decision-making.

I'm also quite keen to know whether the NFNL interviewed anyone outside of the league for their media gig in their process tbh (I'll put my hand up, yes, I applied).

Very valid question regarding media outlets that are unauthorised by the league to conduct interviews with players but then football clubs themselves can interview their own players and post online in what I assume is also unauthorised media?

Maybe TNFS should just become a volunteer at a different club each week and join their media team for a night to do a player interview or some sort. Seems to be a way around it.

No doubt the dictatorship of the northern football league will make football clubs need to shutdown their social medias as a whole at some point if it doesn’t fit their agenda.

Unless you’re Reservoir50 there isn’t much time from HQ being put into helping other clubs promote themselves in any Avenue aside from what they determine is okay.

Berty my man you must be from clubland. We have had multiple offers for to become part of committees and assist in socials for the clubs even as a paid gig. Perhaps we could have then banned their media? That's not who we are though and it would make us us part of that world. We are just volunteers but watch this space 2 huge meetings booked in that will change the scope for everyone.

Can you give us a hint so we can start plotting the downfall HAHA

I think it’s reasonable the NFNL to want to have control over their media. Unfortunately the show has given a platform for people to public shun the league (often while misinformed) and inflame people during controversial issues.

This was often kept for big footy which is a far less public and 99% of people don’t have an account to chime in.

While the show has some good segments and content unfortunately when bringing up controversial topics it’s creating work for the league and creating further angst.

I think some valid points raised above and things to consider as part of any process to develop an understanding of how a partnership can work.

That said, my understanding is that some of the topics covered that may have been discussed on the program have been topics that clubs have had 'concerns' with.

With that in mind - what sort of community do we want the competition to showcase - open, respectful discussion OR the behind closed doors 'bitching' that has been part of the pre-season.

Finally, I don't personally feel that - given a set of guidelines to follow if they want access to clubs - is not an unreasonable goal to try and achieve.

This CAN and SHOULD be resolved respectfully for all parties concerned and by not doing so then the flame of division will continue to burn and unwanted and unnecessary angst will remain. And I think that's a shame for the competition and community football.

Maybe TNFS should do a TISM....if no one knows who you are who can they 'fine'.

Maybe get players or coaches to also 'TISM'up' and then it's just anonymous talking to anonymous.

Time to treat NFNL like the gooses and anti-progressive they continuously show they are.

Northern Fine No Logic - We love fines and have no logic.

Anyone see any point in the league having umpire appointments on its website but not actually keeping it current?
Its still sitting with the 2024 Finals series umpire appointments.

we have no problems putting ourselves out there. When we are wrong we own it. Free media...cant beat it.

Another day another staff member gone. Head of umpiring. The lack of umpires is concerning.

Why is every single NFNL club not required to post an advert 2 times a year is beyond me? Why is it not being advertised seemly anywhere?

How can you not find goal umpires? We are in a cost of living crisis and we can't find old blokes to stand behind the goals for 100 minutes?

Must be a reason all leaving ?

In the last 6 months the following have gone:

Senior operations
Junior operations
Head of umpiring
Media manager
Numerous office staff

Salary?
Role Clarity?
How job description first reads compared to how it may look/feel in real time?

Whilst we'd all love to work in football, it's high turnover due to a fair bit of demand, expectation (often minimal support from above) and at the end of the week all for pretty ordinary remuneration.

Look at the pathway programs/VFL and what they offer coaches.
Far more equipped, credentialled coaches, mentors, development focussed men and women earning (tax free) a lot more money (for far less hours and expectation) kicking around at even some very pox levels of community football.

The model is knackered so the turnover will forever occur.

Yep, most roles are a stepping stone to a higher role with better pay. I can understand that but the league needs to look at critical positions and maybe make them more attractive.

A gun umpire manager is critical to have a successful league.

But the NFNL targets gun 'fine' finders.

People here can say they are not renumerated properly but that's wrong. I do not disagree certain positions should be paid market rate or above AFTER PERFORMANCE REVIEW but I dare any one on here to drop in on say a Wed morning to NFNL HQs and try and find someone....anyone...one or two could be at a cafe at the Uni, few in the gym or on the BBall courts, rest are "working remotely".

I bet if it was posted what each earned (public league so maybe should not be hidden) some would be stunned. Especially when many work from home, in off-season work from beach, and have done nothing to help all clubs other than allowing rorting of the points system and a failed tribunal and a continued loss of umpires. Oh, and Fines. They work hard there.

The occasional flashes of adequacy are marred by an attitude of apathy and indifference.

Maybe we need DOGE.......

The mail usually spot on. May work out that as we know they have finally realised he is the problem as to why all the resignations.
You would have to think all these resignations are for a reason and that common reason may just be old Stills.
Lets be honest, does anyone think the League has moved forward in any area since he was appointed?

Great to see the league highlighting the Number 1 play of the week after Pat Cronin round a couple of weeks back.

Nope
