And we get Epping,Lalor and Thomastown🤦🏻
In fairness to the NFNL, we aren't blessed with AFL standard stadiums in the northern suburbs. A bigger, better option than the selected venues would be good, yes, but i think if you surveyed the players and supporters of Heidelberg, South Morang or Old Paradians, they will not give a continental where they played and won their Grand Finals last year. When you run out on the field, it's the furthest thing from your mind.

100% agree. I also don't think a big stadium works well with local footy. Yes, good opportunity to play on an immaculate surface with all the bells and whistles for warming up etc but you aren't going to even nearly fill it out, making it feel a bit lackluster

Great experience for the players and coaches, but waaay to many empty seats - for me the old VFL grounds with one grandstand and a bit of terracing are perfect - if only such a thing existed

Eastern tried it a long time ago AND under lights. Safe to say it's much better when there's crowds lining the smaller grounds, a lot more atmosphere.

Agree with an earlier post - the north seems to have been left behind when it comes to quality grounds with quality facilities, but at least there are three grounds where there will be at least some good footy and good spaces for fans to watch, that's something we should appreciate.

I remember when they played suburban grand finals at Waverley.
Got to play Herald Shield on Waverley Park, coming from then bush, ground was massive and took us 4-5 kicks to get from one end of ground to the other!

It was brief but did anyone attend any of the finals played at Vic park in the 80s? Was perfect for local footy imo, loved it there
I've played in, and watched finals at Bill Lawry Oval. That was gold. Would never, ever happen, but a final at Brunswick Street Oval would be elite

Yeah, I don’t think too many would want to travel down to Kardinnia park.😂

Just seen in Div 2 19’s that Mernda made finals with a 4 win 9 loss regular season! That would have to be a first where a team has loss twice as many games as they’ve won and made finals. IMG_2338.jpeg

They made finals but got knocked straight out.. does the league have to do top 5 for an 8 team or less comp? Should be top 4.. more than half the teams shouldn’t make finals IMO..

Who cares lines up with D2 finals which is the entire idea of it. Works far better to have matching fixtures and keep kids interested

Looks like they forked out for the temporary fencing too, no excuse for not playing men's finals there if they are doing that
Lads let me assist here. Only 4 clubs applied for mens finals. Thomastown, Kilmore, Epping & Lalor. All were awarded except Kilmore. Whilst i aree Eltham would be amazing for mens finals they didn't apply. Hope that helps. Daz

Surely we can get some men’s finals here?

After the outrageous upfront fee they asked for.

So by NFNL logic next year if Lower Plenty, Monty, WPL and Greensborough are the only ones to apply next year then they are to be given finals.

Buses replacing trains on the Mernda line all weekend not ideal for those wanting to attend Epping, Lalor or Thomastown.

NFNL have let it slip. August 23rd last year team of the years for women’s were announced and week of div 3 grand final div 3 was announced with the week of other divisions grand finals others announced. Will we get anything today?

Eastern FNL would be loving the results of their grand finals.

G’day everyone, apologies if this isn’t for here but I figured this is where this might be best appreciated. Been working on collecting a jumper from every club in the NFL/NFNL era, got a couple more either elsewhere or on the way to me (Bundoora Park, VU Western Spurs and one of the first NFL rep jumpers not pictured). I played juniors for Bundoora Park and had worked in the media team prior to moving from Melbourne so this is a nice way to keep a piece of home with me. If anyone can help me get my hands on any clubs I don’t have that would be greatly appreciated, my messages are always open!
