Very disappointing end to the season. Is a hard place to go to win your last game and was massive chance that the umps would favour Port all night given what happened the week before. Last count frees were 20-11 in their favour.

Ironic that two years in a row now we have not got in the top eight with 11 wins yet the West Coast next door managed to sneak in with 11 once or twice in the last few years.

I think given we have had the longest injury list in comp from round 6 to 16 and we lost 3 of our 4 closest games we have been stiff to miss out on a top 6 if not a top 4 position this season. We have had almost the exact reverse of WC who had the shortest injury list over the 22 rounds and won their closest 4 games.

Connolly, personally I think he has underachieved but in Scwabb's eyes he will get another season.

Pavlich for the brownlow by 1 vote and, Saints for the flag despite their injury list.

Pav is no chance to win the brownlow, Cousins will win that by more than 8 votes i think. But Pav should come second by about 3 votes i think.

I actually just rememberd, 2005 isn't over. We still have the exibition match don't we?

I think in the last 6 weeks Cousins has hardly got a vote. Not sure if Pavlich got many. As the bookies have Cousins at $2.10, then after the profit margin in their prices they are rating him about a 2 in 5 chance..

I think benny boy had at least a 6 vote lead over pav with 6 rounds left, i don't think the great pav would have eaten into it, remember, it's a mid field award anyway ;)

At the end of the season you have to have a serious look at the whole team and coaching staff. To blame it on injuries, and umps is a cop out. Headland has been pretty average, and so has Carr, as well as a few others

I think they should not have signed Connolly so early in the season, as if you cant do better than 9th after 3 years you have to ask questions.

Those that say a coach doesnt make the team, only have to look at Adelaide, as the only real change in the team has been the inclusion of Scott Thompson from Melbourne.

The Dockers can play some good football, but are such a frustrating team to watch at times, and Im not sure which way they can go to address the problem

Rolercoaster.

The gutted looks on the Freo supporters' faces tonight said it all. It has been a rollercoaster for you guys (and hell for my footy tipping this year!)

Commiserations and better luck next year guys, and although it's probably no consolation, it will be all the much sweeter when you do make it.

Why can't all opposition supporters be like you? :D

Because I like you guys, dislike the Wet Toasts and have been on the rollercoaster this season as well with my club. Luckily for us, we scraped in with some stellar form in the last month, and now have the chance to do some damage.

(And I know what it is like to have the feral element from the supporter group of the team from "The Other Side of Town" kick you in the teeth while you are down. :) )

Funnily enugh Eagles had a longer injury list then Fremantle this year. Blows that theory out of the water.
Hahahahahaha. I will assume that was a flippant remark and not you actually putting any reputation of competence on the line. West Coast were in the top 5 most advantaged teams this season in terms of having not many injuries according to official lists

WC have a very good run this year with injuries and close wins (9 games by less than 25 points and 4 by less than 12 points). Any team would be top 4 with that mix. Not many teams have had ever had such a good run and they may want to make it count.

Be careful with that line of reasoning cos it could be said dockers only won last week because of advantageous freekicks to you and nil for the saints. White Line Fever disected the topic beautifully.
It would be safer to just say you were outplayed by a better team on the day

Absolutely agree that we were favoured against Saints. However we got flogged by umps the week before in the derby and again against Port. We needed some good fortune to overcome a good side like Port on their home turf.

You guys were much better than us on the day. There, said it !

Your absolutely correct. Even if it were more even in the free kick count, it wouldnt have made much of a difference to the scoreline. We were out-played when it counted against a harder more physical team.

Id say a lot of those frees to Port were deserved. How many high tackles did we make, it was ridiculas!! Any free kick that was given, was probably earned

I'm glad you said that. There really were a large number of high tackles applied against us. Not just ducking players etc, really obvious and unskilled grabs above the neck.
Apart from the inevitable mistakes by blind-sided umpys I thought the match was very well umpired
