To be fair, that's just a stupid post.

Intent and effort has nothing to do with lace out delivery. You've clearly never seen Gunston attack marking contests.

Will supporters ever cease making excuses for this lightweight ?

Yep because I've always been his biggest supporter on the board

Why pot the bloke in November

I was spoiled watching the career of Robbie Flower. He was 69 kg wringing wet and he also happened to be one of the most courageous marks I've ever seen. He was also an incredible tackler, put his body on the line and, like Watts, invariably played in crap teams.

Now I know Watts isn't in the same sentence as Flower when it comes to talent, but there's zero excuse for him being as insipid in contests as he is.

And I'll never ever cut him any slack for it.

Fair enough because he is weak as piss and there isn't any excuse for it

James hird was never big , but he put his head over it

It's not an excuse but he doesn't know how to use his body, until we get specialist training for him he won't develop
I don't think a specialist training coach is going to stop his fear, Jack Watts is scared to get hurt and you can't just fix that and it's going hold him back for his whole career

When he was developing he was learning off Liam jurrah in how to take a mark

Now he can train with pederson and hogan and co , plus I'd have dermy or Carey or someone like that

Brad green was never renowned for his courage early but he turned it around

Westhoff's career almost died under Priumus, as Watts' under Neeld...

I was quietly hoping Watt's would seek a fresh start interstate and would choose PAFC. I guess that attests my faith he will come good and would make the perfect CHB or CHF depending on his clubs needs.

So what's your excuse for his utter lack of intensity, timid efforts in marking contests, constantly losing his feet when it's not necessary to do so and shameful tackling ?

You could have said that about almost every PAFC player three seasons ago. Now, and the same players, they have shed those pathetic habits.

given they are the same players, the only difference is development, fitness and belief in themselves and the team.

Watts can turn things around but that will require hard work, individual dedication and a team effort.

Are you telling me the number one draft pick who was a key forward was learning how to take a mark from Liam Jurrah?

He was 17 when he first played afl, if you think he was the complete package at that age your wrong
Also he was the wrong choice at number 1 , he was a brilliant athlete but he wasn't the best footballer and the same with natanui

He hasnt been taught jack s**t about afl , he is a lot to blame but he hasn't been helped

He was one of the most skilled players in the draft, what are you on about? That was the lure of Watts, a very skilled footballer with great athleticism.

If he just used the physical tools he's got (speed) he'd be an entirely different player, there were some very good signs this season and I think another pre-season with Roos will do wonders.

Highly skilled in some areas , but very poor in other vitally important areas Such as contested football, body pressure etc

He was drafted due to his upside not his talent level

Watts was definitely drafted for his talent level. At the time he was drafted he was renowned as one of the best kicks and marks in the draft, as well as for his decision making and skills in traffic.

I think he can still get there, obviously strength is what is needed to improve his confidence - he was up at 94-95 kg's before Neeld IIRC and he was by no means a physical beast but he did compete one on one (averaged about 1.4 contested marks I think) if not in a pack situation.

He also regularly floated across packs and backed into packs taking marks in defence.

No question he's lost that confidence in his marking, which provides lots of opportunity to lay the boots in when he hesitates - who knows if he can regain it.
