Outback communities in Australia have the biggest problem with domestic violence. Yet strangely we hear nothing from the "progressive"side of politics about this issue.
Absolutely wrong. But whatever, If you believe that then by all means.

Oh really?

People like NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge and Victorian Greens MP Lidia Thorpe are both stupid and culpable. Instead of speaking out about child sexual abuse, they peddle lies and seek to silence those who do speak out about it.

NSW Greens MP David Shoebridge was one of those to lodge a formal complaint with ACMA, claiming panellist Prue MacSween had made “a highly offensive, racist and divisive statement”, and there was no attempt by host Samantha Armytage to condemn or rebuke it.

17,000 children in out-of-home-care across the country. It’s just ludicrous. Saying sorry says that you’re not going to do it again and we still continue to see our children being ripped out their mothers’ arms.

The reality

714 cases of sexual offence involving children under the age of 16 during the past five years in the Northern Territory.

The Robertson Report (2000: xiii) stated: 'Violence is now overt; murders, bashings and rapes, including sexual violence against children, have reached epidemic proportions with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people being perpetrators.'

In Western Australia the rate of reports to police of sexual assault of Indigenous girls was approximately double that of non-Indigenous girls. Yet it is estimated that less than 30 per cent of sexual assaults on children are actually reported to police and that this reporting rate is lower in Indigenous communities than non-Indigenous communities. Further, it was noted in the Robertson Report (2000) that 88 per cent of all rapes in Indigenous communities go unreported.

In Roebourne, police figures showed 90 per cent of school-age children were suffering abuse. Thirty-six men have been charged with more than 300 offences against 184 children. The state's child protection minister said the scale of the epidemic was so vast that child sex abuse had become "normal" in the remote former gold rush town, which has a largely Aboriginal population of about 1,410.

Underage Aboriginal girls are now almost 60 times more likely to contract syphilis than their non-Aboriginal counterparts and 30 time more likely to contract gonorrhoea or trichomoniasis, according to official figures.

These figures are horrific. Rape & abuse is under reported in every demographic.

I never noticed your comments in the feminism thread or DV thread, acknowledging these issues in our communities & demanding change, better services and funding - I’ll go re-read them, I’m sure they’re there.

You have gone to quite some effort there to not prove your point. You've just posted some out-of-context quotes and put your own spin on them. What specific comments was Shoebridge commenting on, for example?

Bullshit. All we hear is conservative whingeing about money being wasted on social services. Anything that is targeted to indigenous communities is labelled "racist".

According to our Tone if we dig up more coal and reduce immigration it will all be good. Guy is a total lightweight.
Reminds me a horse and cart owner standing in the middle of the road saying there's no future in cars. Yeah, there's still a place for coal in the transition phase, but you are just embarrassing yourself thinking it should be a priority.

This could be due to The Bolt Effect

Bolt <on a part of the Titanic in Atlantic> - “Tony! Come back!”

In other news the man who head-butted the man who threatened to shirt front the man who is responsible for murder has been sentenced to six months, the other two got off.

This is like an episode of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, He-Man punches his way through humanity and even out of spider webs and then tells the kiddies at the end of the episode to not use violence to solve their problems???

WTF He-Man? Are you serious?

The bloke who head-butted Abbott got 6 months. Feels kind of over the top however the guy didnt exactly show remorse by bragging about it afterwards. He should have played it safe by apologising straight away and palming if off as a spur of the moment thing because of the SSM vote.

Should've been knighted like Phil the greek

No effort at all. It was a cut and paste from a thread I started about the systematic failure of authorities to look into child abuse in Northern Territory. Strangely there was hardly any contribution from the left in that thread.

No, you ignore all the contribution because you don't want to hear them. You are literally the epitome of a guy with his fingers in the ears all the time.

Well, if that post was an example of the thread content, I don't think 'the left' were missing much.

No coal, no welfare for you fellas Gough! What do you really want?

I want my money to build s**t like hospitals and bridges and not supplement a bunch of bogans who can't pay over 30% tax. 30k a year as a payg earner in tax. While these dropouts in the construction industry knocking 50k off their wages with company cars for their kids and stay at home wife. They gave up on having a career at 16. Then drank for the next 10 years. Why do they deserve all these tax benefits?

They don't even pay 8k a year on a similar wage. And they get travel costs, shed toys, vehicles as well.

Put them under the PAYG tax rates and you'd get an extra 20-30k out of each one. No one on 90-120k should pay only 8-12k tax.

Nationalising energy production? Tones and co have gone so far hard right they are now hard left

I'm shocked to be standing here!

I would have thought that there would have been post after post against these proposals by the free markets devotees who'd attack the ALP if they even thought about anything like this! Alas its tumbleweeds from the resident footstools on this subject!
