Maybe the selectors could show more respect to a club champion, rather than a guy who played for only a few years for us.
Once again the exercise is based on picking the best possible 22 in position. Maybe those who picked others ahead of Knights rated them much higher than Knights. That's all part of the game being played here. Do you reach for someone early on knowing that you're picking again for 8-10 picks, or only getting to take back to back picks every 16 picks.

Knighta was a respected Richmond champion, but after he went to coach Essendon, some hzve downgraded him imo.
I get the draft style now, I just wanted to pump up Knighta who put in every week in the hard years.

Hardly a downgrade to be selected where he was, given he was the 22nd player picked in the Team of the Century and was taken ahead of the likes of starting 18 players in Clay Dean McCormack Keane & Morris

Pick 131
Pick 131 - Martin Bolger

1638870241256.png

A member of the famous Richmond last line of defence in the 1930s, which was fondly called the "The Three Musketeers". Bolger, Sheahan and O’Neill were nigh on impenetrable and were a large factor in the 1932 and 1934 premiership successes. Bolger was a highly skilful, consistent and determined player who was rarely beaten. He specialised in minding the opposition's resting rovers to nullify their impact. His skill was such that he could have played as a rover himself, but for the benefit of the team he stayed back. Bolger starred in Richmond’s 1932 and 1934 premierships and won a club best and fairest in 1936. - Tigerland Archive

It's getting tough now. I was tossing up between a few here and I suspect those I don't pick will be gone before my next shot.

Eenie-meenie-minie-moe...

Pick 128 - Trevor Poole

View attachment 1293209

1985 Jack Dyer Medallist Poole played 99 games and kicked 56 goals for the Tigers before crossing to Geelong where he played a further 54 games and kicked 34 goals, and was a member of their 1992 grand final side. A dashing, well-built (188cm, 90kg), skillful, strong marking half-back, he also finished 3rd in the JDM in 1986. He was useful when thrown forward, with a best of 5.4 in a 91-point hiding against Sydney in 1987, and played some good footy on the wing for the Cats, but was best suited down back.

Poole represented Victoria twice in 1985. He could rack the ball up in his favoured half-back spot, frequently repelling opposition attacks. Dashing and consistent, he'll complement Bachar beautifully on my opposite HBF.

Tiger_Of_Old

I played on him at local level where he was unsuprisingly far better than me … as was Justin Murphy who literally took the piss at Diamond Valley football

Pick 132
With pick 132, the PB74's select GRAEME BOND to fill the wing position

graeme-bond-1a.jpg

Graeme played as a wingman and half-back after working his way up from the Richmond Under/19 team.

A very determined player, he came on as 19th man and kicked a vital goal to help secure the 1969 Premiership victory.

He was also a member of the 1972 Grand Final side. His highest individual goal tally was 5 against Hawthorn in Round 8 of 1972, ironically the same day as Michael Tuck made his league debut for Hawthorn.

He was a reserve on 33 occasions during his time at Richmond, yet between 1970 and 1972 he played in 68 out of possible 72 games with only one as a reserve.

In 1978 he was awarded Life Membership. He was a very fast player who had success as a professional runner winning the Leongatha, Dandenong and Maryborough Gifts and was known as, “Race Horse” by the Richmond fans, because of his running ability.

In between stints with Richmond, Graeme also played briefly with Dandenong and Vermont before transferring to St.Kilda. He later served as the Sydney Swans Runner in 1983 and 1984, before returning to Richmond as Team Manager and Selector in 1985. He was statistician with Radio 3AW for almost 2,500 games.

oooh, there's a couple of legends still on the board that I can't fit into the starting 18 but will look mighty fine on my interchange! Now, just stay away you lot lol

Just looking over all the teams, and I reckon I'd go in with a completely different strategy if we ever did this again. Missed the mark in a few places.

Agree.I think i took Knighta too early. :p :D :cool::drunk::moustache:

Cleve Hughes or Stephen Jurica would look good in a pocket

Cleve had quite a successful career back in Tas and perhaps he may have been better in the current environment - we will never know!

I had high hopes for him. He looked to have the talent. Just one of the few who had the talent but unfortunately were at a rabble of a club at the time.

BIOGRAPHY
Hugh was a champion ruckman during Richmond’s formative years. He was a strongly-built man who was courageous , skillful and very fair .
He was a fine team man who partnered Bernie Herbert in what was a very formidable rucking combination . He was also a very adept palmer of the ball and never became flustered during a tense situation.
He seemed to have suffered a leg injury during 1912 season that healed but which he never fully recovered from.
He was a member of the 1920 and 1921 Premiership sides as well as the 1919 Grand Final team.
He won the Best & Fairest in 1921 and 1923 and represented Victoria six times. He was awarded Life Membership in 1915 and he served on the Committee in 1924. His highest individual goal tally was 5 against Essendon in Round 8 of 1920.

He served in the AIF between 1916and 1919 , where he attained the rank of Lieutenant . He was awarded the Gallantry Medal for bravery above and beyond the call of duty . This came about when he successfully repaired a bridge whilst under constant enemy fire. He later won a Bar to the Gallantry Medal , which meant it was the second time he had been commended for bravery in the battlefield. Whilst overseas, he formed a very close relationship with Dan Minogue , and this has often been touted as one of the reasons that Minogue transferred to Richmond., after returning from war service . Away from football , Hugh ran his own building business and later moved to New Zealand to live.

Pick 134
Pick 134 - Eric Zschech

I wanted to get the hardest to pronounce award....

1638933051481.png Eric was a centreman who was recruited from Minyip after winning the Wimmera League Best and Fairest award in 1928 . He was a very fair player who was skillful , stylish and well balanced . He was a fine drop kick and a player who always put the ball to good use. He formed part of a very successful centreline along with Alan Geddes and Brownlow Medallist Stan Judkins on the wings . Together , this combination represented Richmond in four consecutive Grand Finals.

Having joined Richmond in 1929, he played every season until 1935 when the club finished third . A member of the 1932 and 1934 Senior and 1929 Reserves Premiership sides. He also played in 1931 and 1933 Senior and 1930 Reserves Grand Final teams. He also represented Victoria once in 1934. His final game was the Preliminary Final loss of 1935. This guy was elite! His understanding with champion full forward Jack 'Skinny' Titus was legendary, and seemed at times almost telepathic.
